Amaq (ISIS media agency) confirmed the airstrike on al-Shishani back in March, except they said it only wounded him. US subsequently backtracked on their claims, not through any sort of official channels. Amaq is surprisingly accurate, for instance i think each time they have claimed a plane or helicopter has been shot down its ended up true. Speaking of which a large number of them have been going down recently. Just today both an SAA Mig-23 and a helicopter were shot down or crashed.

More than five years into Syria’s civil war, Turkey, the country that has most helped the rebellion against the rule of Bashar al-Assad, has hinted it may move to normalise relations with Damascus.

The suggestion made by the Turkish prime minister, Binali Yıldırım, on Wednesday, stunned the Syrian opposition leadership, which Ankara hosts, as well as regional leaders, who had allied with Turkey in their push to oust Assad over a long, unforgiving war.

“I am sure that we will return [our] ties with Syria to normal,” he said, straying far from an official script that has persistently called for immediate regime change. “We need it. We normalised our relations with Israel and Russia. I’m sure we will go back to normal relations with Syria as well.”

Turkish foreign policy remains unchanged towards the Syrian regime and there is no possibility of re-establishing relations as long as President Bashar al-Assad stays in power, two Turkish officials have told Al Jazeera.

The remarks came on Wednesday after various international media outlets reported a shift in Turkish policy, referring to Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim's nationally broadcast comments earlier on the same day.

From what i have seen, the first source is misinterpreted. He means that Turkey will return ties to Syria (the country) in the future, nothing about returning ties to Assad. Another words Turkey would support a US/Russia political resolution that doesn't involve Assad.

Syria war: Rebels 'behead 12-year-old boy' on video

A video circulating on social media appears to show Syrian rebels beheading a Palestinian boy who they accused of being a pro-government fighter.

The video, posted online on Tuesday, shows a group of men in the back of a truck cutting off the head of the terrified boy.

Before the gruesome murder, the men accuse the boy of being a member of the Liwa al-Quds (Jerusalem brigade), a Palestinian armed group fighting alongside Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government.

The Jerusalem brigade posted a statement on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, identifying the boy as 12-year-old Abdullah Issa, who they said was not a fighter.

"He lived in al-Mashhad [Aleppo] with his family, among multiple poor families that live in the area under the control of terrorists," read the statement, adding that the boy was ill.

"By taking one glance at the child - the argument that he was a fighter is immediately disapproved," the group said.

Whistle all you like, they are not obligated to do so, under the definition of dissident/guerilla forces.

Articles 43 and 44 clarify the military status of members of guerrilla forces. Combatant and prisoner of war status is granted to members of dissident forces when under the command of a central authority. Such combatants cannot conceal their allegiance; they must be recognizable as combatants while preparing for or during an attack.

There is no central authority, just loose bands of armed individuals, they conceal their allegiance by dressing in civilian attire, (easier to make claims of attacks on civilians by government forces) and having no recognizable uniform are unable to be recognized as combatants prior to or during an attack.
