Can anyone please explain why Assad who appears to be gaining control of his country would use chemical weapons provoking this kind of response instead of just unloading all his conventional bombs even conventional arrel bombs that many accuse him of that would not have provoked this response from the USA???

He has been in power for so long as his father before him so his obviously not stupid

So Alan, since Obama asked Congress for approval to strike against Assad after his 2013 chemical weapons attack and they denied it, when are you going to blame them?

Oh, and what's your boy Trump going to do besides trying to shift the blame.

Alan would be one of the first to piss his pants if Obama launched an attack without first asking Congress.

He didn't even comment yet. What makes you think he approves of this?

Because he thought he was covered by the Russians.

He has done so every year since 2013, has threatened to do the same to Idleb than to Aleppo east.

It breaks the morale of the population and their support to the rebels.

Why did Saddam Hussein gas thousands of people and massacre entire towns when he wasn't under any threat?

People who think Assads army is one big functioning unit (like Ron Paul) are highly ignorant. Its quite the opposite really, the Syrian army is fragmented into militia groups each with their own leadership. The likelihood of a rogue commander being responsible is high. Of course if that is the case, Assad still bears responsibility.

You should've just said because Assad is crazy, that would've made more sense

Saddam never had american soldiers in Iraq and would'nt have used them if he was warned before by the usa that accused him of using them in the first place, lol

The UN says there's no doubt it's Assad.

Yet nobody seems to be questioning how they can conclude such a thing. Trump also said there can be no dispute, which ironically should be enough evidence for the anti-Trump brigade that it surely must be a lie, when does he ever speak truth?!?

Because that made any sense ?

I actually read yesterday that the Syrian sarin gas has a very high purity and a unique chemical signature, so it should be fairly easy to establish once they've analyzed it.

The UN says there's no doubt it's Assad.

After fighting to win back Syria all these years with Russias help why would Assad give it all up now by doing something so irrational, given the current political & social circumstances that could've ended up with the USA taking him out with a missile strike?

Common !!!

Why would he think he's 'giving it all up'? He did it four years ago with no repercussions, because Russia doesn't care. And there's no indication yet that that's changed significantly. A one-off strike at a random airbase is symbolic.

It's not now, he has consistently used chemical weapons since 2013.

Check my previous posts, how many chemical attacks there has been.

The US won't invade Syria. U.K., France have other things to do and no willingness.

He just got one Air Force base hit and that's it, he can carry on.

It's a slap on the wrist for him.
