I have made some previous posts about model specific thin clients, however this thread is for those that also enjoy pushing these tiny machines to new limits. Quite often you can find these on sites like bidorbuy/gumtree/olx/ebay/etc for prices that are a fraction of what they sell for new. Most of them use pretty standard components so modifying them is not too hard.

Share your thin client pics, mods, uses and schemes.

I recently bought a HP T510 for R1100 and 2x HP T610 for R1400. Quite keen to see how they perform as media PCs since both claim to handle 1080p without any problem. I'm definitely going to upgrade the storage to a decent sized SSD and load x64 windows on them.

Worked with various makes and models.

Used an old Wyse and Neoware to build firewalls - Replaced the IDE flashes with HDD added NICs.

Does the T510 have SATA ports?

Maybe not what you had in mind ...

This is my old thin client running freedos and a ssh client.

And this is my very old WY-55 ...

Yo, that is oldskool retro. My first thin client was a 700mhz Via with 128MB RAM and a 44pin connector that initial had a 64MB SSD stuck on. I replaced it with a CompactFlash adapter and 8GB CF card with Windows XP and it made a pretty neat desktop PC.

the HP T510 has 1x44pin IDE and 1xSATA2 connectors where as the T610 has 1x44pin IDE and 2xSATA2 connectors. I happen to have a 32GB 44pin SSD and 32GB SATA2 SSD made specifically for thin clients as well as a 128GB OCZ Vertex 4 that I will try and use on my newly acquired beauties. Pics to follow.

Dang! Those old Wyse clients are paper thin. The ones I buy have some potential of becoming PC like.

I actually thought of you when I watched a video last night by Linus. They built a micro tower with a Titan X in it. It was amazing to watch. One would never figure such powerful machines being so tiny :o.

Will post a link tonight when I get home. Something about monster machine in a shoebox or something like that :o

32 cores, TitanX, 32GB's (2x 16GB sticks) ram, V850 PSU and wait for it... WATERCOOLING :D

edit: Apologies, 18 cores.
Can't see if the link is correct. But pulled it from Google:

Currently I have two HP T610 thin clients with 4GB RAM and 16GB SSD. Runs Windows 10 like a dream. I might just sell one.
