Hi guys!
(Before anyone crucify me) I have searched this forum and googled around for related posts and solutions, so I know this might have been discussed before - so please excuse the repost as I'm sneaking in this post from work in between my boss' coffee and bathroom breaks.
I've had an issue with my internet that started roughly 4-5 days ago. I have a 400G Billion router, one of those you get from telkom with your contract...
The problem I'm having is that it seems that I just cannot connect to the internet anymore. My line is synchronizing, so the 5 times my father and I called telkom, they could not really help us since technical support protocol basically ends with "your line is synchronizing on this side Sir".
Things we have tried ->
- Using different LAN cables.
- Replacing the filter.
- Resetting the router, changing settings and doing a factory restore.
- Using a dial-up connection and entering details into the router.
- Checked our passwords and account details and verified its validity with telkom.
- About everything we could possibly think of.
- Resetting the router another 9000 times.
- Yell at the router.
- Yell at eachother.
- Yell at the cat.
The router keeps saying "attempting to connect" and when you dial with an account, it spits out "attempting just about nothing".
It does however work at times, every 50 resets it works for 2 minutes but even then it half loads a website and then runs out of steam, the "internet" light on the router goes red, and we're back to square one.
Could this be a router issue? I can't get away from work to go wait in a 3 hour queue to have my router tested only to hear that it's not the issue.
Calling telkom doesn't work since they simply cant see issues on their end... though I have to add, they have been quite helpful. I was on the phone with one technician for almost an hour and he refused to stop until the problem was fixed - but alas...
Any suggestions, ideas or meanderings?
