The Times goes Google

The Times sucks and The Sunday Times has reached new lows. They should just give up and turn it into a tabloid or better yet, they should just make up their own news. It would be better than their sensationalistic and racist brand of journalism.
 
I personally prefer the Sunday Times to Rapport or other mainstream Sunday papers. The main article is generally a good piece of investigative journalism and they have uncovered various Government scandals.
 
Why is The Times new search feature good enough to have an article on MyADSL?
Its only Google Custom Search, anyone can create the exact same search feature for their site in just minutes..

MyADSL are you getting a little kick back for posting this article? It surely seems like its a commissioned one.
The article seems only to attract visitors to their website, with the link in it.
I think a article like that should have rather been placed in your blog and not as a Top story.
 
Has anyone actually seen the results?

I believe that the people referring to a better search experience since the swap have not noticed that:

* Every single article reads "The Times - Article" which clearly does not help with determining the content of the article
* One has to wade through 5 ads and scroll down to almost the bottom of the page to get to the actual articles (and my monitor resolution is pretty high)
* There is no mechanism to sort the articles by relevance or by date
* The articles seem out of date, although it is impossible to determine the actual date that the article was written by the results page
* There are none of the nifty search refinements that I used to love with the old search

It is probably another example of a media house chasing the short-term profits that Google offers for a sub-standard user experience.

All this PR for a Google Custom Search that anyone can implement? :confused:
