The top programming languages in the world

Indeed! I grew up on Basic and Pascal, and then moved on to C, all before I finished high school. Professionally I’ve used C++ the most, then C, Python, R, Java, and C#. Assembly and CUDA too, of course.

In all of this, I had the greatest joy/experience in C, and Python with Jupytr, with assembly as a runner up.
We all wanna be like you. Can you give us some pointers

How did you come to those conclusions?
I am a Cloud Solution Architect. I have compared Google, Amazon and Microsoft serverless tech. At the moment, from a dev perspective, Microsoft serverless is on a another level, the things I want/am going to do will just definitely work better with Microsoft serverless. In fact the cool things I want to do is just not an option in Google and Amazon. These are things that almost all serverless dev work can benefit from. As for serverless, this is not just "another option" to choose from, this is a compute tech revolution. You can use Javascript, Python, C# Script and C#. I think Python and C# is better than Javascript for serverless, and C# is the best bet over Python in an Microsoft dev environment.

Okay Bill Gates, we'll take the vaccine and use Azure.

Like? For real, want to know.
It is not wise to detail my dev idea here but you are welcome to pm me. I think I have the back-end covered, but the ui part not. For now I will focus on the serverless backend and search for a partner helping on the ui side.

This does not mean my judgement of tech is clouded. In fact I am not completely bound to MS, cloud solutions should be able to run anywhere, but Microsoft put in the work to give me something more than what other tech is offering, and things change quickly in the cloud, it might not stay like this.

I will have to take the MS bias remarks on the chin, but I have seen the way and I could go on here to detail my findings and plans, but I`d rather not do that ;)

Fair enough. We are on the AWS ecosystem and certainly haven't had any issues implementing any serverless solutions. We have settled mostly on Python although there are a few C# and JavaScript implementations around as well. I agree on the Python and C# choices as that's been working better for us but like I mentioned Python has been the preferred language. Would be interesting to hear where AWS can't do what you wanted it to do.

For 5 marks please give 1 example and explain it. (lol, I'm curious about it because I just started learning cloud)

No bro, you cannot say one platform is better than the other based just on your specific needs. As a Cloud Solutions Architect you are capable of a better more detailed explanation. Why must I or our company favour MS's tech stack for our clients instead of say, AWS and Node/Java?

I am not saying 1 is just better than another, if you just want normal serverless then pick either AWS or MS. But from what I have seen to be a very common business need (not my need), is that I can do it with MS and not with AWS.

What is the hottest tech today? I would say serverless tech. Who is best with serverless tech today? I would say Microsoft. What is the best programming language for Microsoft serverless tech? I would say C#. What is the best cloud development language today? C#
You get a thumbs up and a laughy face!!!

I think what Benedict is saying is that you have to look at what systems are deeply entrenched and are going to become even more ubiquitous as they roll out to more gadgets and thingies in the future. To be proficient on the coding language of such an echo system, secures you a higher pay scale as well as longevity of work. Turning 60 in 20-30 years? Pah, just get thicker glasses or lasek surgery :)

The cloud enables "commoditization of business needs" and today the only code we should be writing should be related specifically to the business domain. And also, the era of automation is here so strive for tech that gives the devs less control, less configuration options, and more sweet automation, so I can focus on the specific business domain and innovation.

I started professionally coding in Java and a bit of C++, followed by a few years doing a lot of PLSQL (oracle's codified versions of SQL). After that moved more into the financial space where its all python. Its been 10 years since I last wrote a line of code in anything other than python and at this stage I would struggle to go back to Java or C++. Been too long.

Honestly Python is great for what we use it for but I would not use it to develop apps from scratch. As a non compiled language its just too slow. However it can work well as the scripting side of a C/Java based app. One of the greatest games ever written was done like that. Civ IV was written in a compiled language but all the scripting side was python. Also a popular approach for some webapps I believe.

Still, because python is arguably easier to pick up I suspect it to continue to rise through the ranks. Its been steadily gaining/growing for years now.
