The Toyota GT86 Thread

Haha not going to go there, but I can understand why someone would want the automatic, however I'm not a lazy driver.

Automatic in general, and automatic on this car are two different things. Automatic on this car kind of defeats the purpose.

WE HAVE OFFICIAL PRICING FOR THE UPDATED TOYOTA 86

A little over a year ago, Toyota revealed the facelifted 86. And now, with the updated coupé finally set to launch in South Africa in mid-April, we have stumbled across the new range’s pricing.

As before, the local line-up will comprise three derivatives, starting with the Standard trim in six-speed manual guise. This variant comes in at R449 600, which represents an increase of R15 500 over the pre-facelift model.

Next up is the High specification, also in manual, at R494 900 (up R6 500), while the High in automatic form again tops the range, at R519 400 (also an increase of R6 500). These two High models feature items such as LED daytime running lights, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, a starter button and a small spoiler.

Under the bonnet, nothing has changed, with the 2,0-litre naturally aspirated, horizontally opposed four-cylinder petrol mill still providing the rear wheels with 147 kW and 205 N.m.

Pricing:
Toyota 86 2,0 Standard: R449 900
Toyota 86 2,0 High: R494 900

This is how much the 2017 Toyota 86 will cost in SA

Toyota's back-to-basics rear-drive, front-engined sports car: the 86 has undergone a mid-life facelift.

The new model launches locally in mid-April and we have pricing ahead of its media unveiling in Johannesburg next week.

Local launch is imminent

As before, there are three models, all powered by the same 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated Boxer (horizontally opposed) engine. Sadly, the power figures haven't increased, they offer 147kW/205Nm.

The entry-level Standard model, which uses a six-speed manual transmission, retails for R449 600. The rest of the range is decked out in High trim, expect niceties like heated seats, cruise control, LED headlights and a multi-function steering wheel.

There are two gearbox options with the latter models: six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. The manual version retails at R494 900 and the automatic for R519 400.

Pricing:

86 2.0 Standard - R449 900
86 2.0 High - R494 900
86 2.0 High auto - R519 400

My dealer just sent me these and I have to admit, I'm somewhat confused, not entirely sure what message she's trying to get across :o

Not sure what to say, I replied by asking if it says 86 or 69 :D

I'm completely and utterly fell in love with this beautiful beast, not only does she purr like a panther, she also pumps the adrenaline levels with ease.

After picking her up yesterday afternoon, I look a detour home and by the time I arrived I climbed out shaking.

By far the most life altering driving experience I have ever had :)

I find myself wanting to drive, regardless of destination, so long as I can sit behind the wheel and keep pushing the rush.

Think I'll get around to taking some scenic pictures tomorrow.

I remember that phase :D it lasted about 2 years for me, but the end result is that I've developed a more aggressive driving style and it's a difficult habit to get out of...
