Manhart’s souped-up Supra ‘GR 550’ is more powerful than a Porsche 911 GT3 RS
That comes thanks to a new turbo, radiator and exhaust kit. The bodykit might also add a few more horsepower, we reckon
Though Manhart is typically associated with dropping and boosting BMWs, it’s now directed its efforts toward the Z4’s sibling: the GR Supra. Since the two share the same ‘B58’ engine and eight-speed transmission, it’s familiar territory for the German tuner's lab coats to try their hand. And try they have.
Dubbed the ‘GR 550’, that turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six which originally produced around 335bhp has now been even more turbocharged and supported by a new part-aluminium radiator kit and a stronger carbon fibre air intake. Manhart has also tinkered with the ECU (because which tuner doesn’t?), resulting in a final output of 542bhp and 568 torques.
The subsequently meatier soundtrack will also travel through a new stainless steel exhaust and out the back of blacked-out quad tailpipes. You’ll also get some valve control trickery going on so you can toggle the ferocity of the GR 550’s vocal cords as and when needed - like shopping trips with mum.
Manhart’s also gone to town with the body, lowering it with three-way coilover suspension before throwing on a carbonised body kit and Concave One spinny things at each corner. There’s also a subtle rear wing sitting above revised light covers, and decorative black vinyl strips to augment the clean white body.
