HAi there

ok straight to the point , i have an amd x2 6000+ am2 cpu .

its about the only thing that i havent upgraded because its been my trusty steed. now we all know horse power can only go SO FAR....
back in 2007 it was blazing with speed, its also very power hungry compared to other cpu's nowadays...:twisted: some say they have heat issues but mine stays well under 50's on max load.

i have a am3/am2 supported mobo so any cpu can pop in there thats amd . thing is i have a budget for around R800-R1200 only.

Benchmarks are welcome.. i only have one pc and its meant for gaming. encoding and things like that ... well what are friends for :D i do dvd burns now and then for backing up sakes . soon blu-ray burns so the cpu has to be atleast future proof and good enough for gaming on 1920x1080.

and no im not going over to intel so dont even bother posting about it.

any help in the general direction will be awesome.;)

save a little extra and get the 955 I went from the 6000 to the 955, great cpu and I heared or read somewhere cant really remember that in many aspects the 955 is a better cpu over all then the 965

955 ? so thats a phenom 955 uhhh quad hey ? sorry im not to clued up on all the cpu's that have come out. to many at once :P i checked its price . but the wattage doesnt agree with me . i was thinking more tri core actions ?

The cpu you want is the Athlon II 630. It's a 2.8Ghz quad core and should be just under R1200.

Definitely get a 955 over an Athlon X4. You might actually get WORSE single threaded performance since the Athlon X4 has so little cache.
