The truth about Openweb

Crystal Web adverts currently run on YouTube, Facebook, ITWeb, and 2 other forms of media. As previously pointed out, we've tried to advertise on MyBroadband but they don't appear to want to allow it. An example of two of our in-stream video adverts currently running on YouTube and Facebook are https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1U9ztbQzRE and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzTS4sQ3Aek

:D Isn't you took on / saved a few sad souls that were leaving OW. Now feel the heat

So...A buddy of mine signed up for their uncapped special (4mb). My line is 10mb and for the first day the account was flying using the full line speed. Since then it hasn't been usable. Will he be able to cancel with immediate effect?

Probably not. They require a calendar month's notice.

The irony is strong. Openweb poached Mweb clients left, right and centre when they told all their clients to basically F off.
Through Openweb's failings, CW poached many of their clients :) I can honestly say CW has been hands down the best ISP I have ever been with.

I will continue to poke my head up at anything to do with OW and degrade them on pure principal for all the shenanigans that went down.

No - I just tried. This seems borderline illegal. I sign up for an account that gets an international speed of 1mbps, can't stream youtube or netflix and is clearly not what was advertised. Surely the CPA can be something that protect one from this?

Feel for you mate. Example of one of the possible end results of MyBB OW adverts. People believe in what they read here and get burnt at the end. Are they deducting via debit order or you paying via eft?

just a question. why should they? And..
Could it have something to do with bad vibes between Paul and rpm?

Hey DJ..., I've seen the second advert in a YouTube clip and it was actually interesting enough to keep me watching till the end :D I have to ask though, why the heavy American accent on the first advert? Surely it's locational target marketing, therefore there wouldn't be an issue with foreigners understanding our accent? It's not criticism by any means, just genuine curiosity.

As an ISP that was born from this very forum, from 2 users who were sick and tired of all the cr@p that other ISPs dish out, Sean and Paul have done an excellent job of being one of the most open and honest ISPs out there. Why wouldn't they want to advertise an ISP like that? They take all the other ISPs money for adverts (and hey, even censor parts of the forum for them).

As to the bad vibes thing - I wasn't paying much attention to the whole saga, but perhaps it had something to do with challenging the "system". I suppose getting up on the very soapbox you are denouncing is never the smartest move.

I don't know how CW compares to other ISPs ito product and service but from what I can see on this forum their level of customer service comes across as quite good to very good. Having said that, with my limited knowledge on CW, I wouldn't be so naive as to judge them based on nothing really. I'm sure they've put a lot of effort in energy, time and money into this and obviously would like to succeed well and maintain that level of success and growth

Not to say that Paul's fury on the forum has anything to do with the lack in responsive communication by rpm, but I just wonder if it isn't the case.
If it is, I think it's rather silly and bad business. Again, by that I'm not saying it is the case with rpm feeling revengeful....but hey, who knows.

How long does it typically take your advertising team to get back to a potential customer? I ask here because you no longer respond to PMs or emails our company sends you. After an initial chat with Cara relating to advertising on MyBB, we were asked to email our request. First was sent and delivered on the 17th of September. Second was sent and delivered on the 23rd. Neither have been acknowledged, and neither have been responded to.

So I'm curious as to how one can actually go about arranging this protected editorial content and advertising space with MyBB seeing as by phone and email doesn't appear to work. At least not for us. If, much like your actual editorial content, your advertising is subjected to qualification criteria (which from your posts appears not to be the case), can you at least drop us a message and let us know the specifics in this regard, or at least acknowledge/respond to our mails?

Any update on this?

They are a media and advert driven business. They advertise ISPs. We are are an ISP, voted top by their very members. We wish to advertise. Seems an odd question...

Haven't yet found a decent local voice over artist I approve of. So far all applicants we've heard sound like they're about to fall asleep midway through the video...

I'm well aware of how Mybb makes it's money.
Let me rephrase or explain that question. Why should rpm feel obligated to advertise your business after all the unpleasantness caused by your partner, if it might have angered him? Sure it makes business sense to grant CW this opportunity.
Note I'm obviously speculating here...no matter how absurd it would be if true

rpm could just be flexing his muscles temporarily at CW saying...hey I can also play this fsck you game
