I appologise for this Rant ! but I now believe that is is necessary.

All uncapped ADSL solutions are purchased through IS baring one or two ISP's. And let me tell you IS makes no special arrangements for anyone, they are way to arrogant. The speeds IS provide on their uncapped product is pathetic. The claim the product is unshaped and lead all their resellers into believing the same, however we all know its not, they shape during the day ! If IS do not have enough bandwidth then they should not sell any more accounts until they do, but to be honest they are greedy and no different from Telkom. What really makes me mad is certain ISP's offering dual login accounts. IS specifically state they do not offer this nor do they resell this to any of their ISP's so I would like Gamco and Webafrica to explain themselfs on this forum. I am a so frustrated and I cannot get the truth out of anyone or any ISP ! its time to come clean and sell the product for what it is !

How do they work out the price of an uncapped product may I ask?? Is it a bit of a gamble where they hope the customer doesn't exceed a certain amount for them to make profit??? Or do they charge us way over what is normally possible to ensure profit in which case uncapped may not be worth the cost for consumers? i.e rather get a few 10 gig accounts and save more.

I'm perfectly happy with my IS uncapped. It's a 512k, and slows a bit during the day, but flatlines from sunset to sunrise. I pushed about 90GB last month.

GamCo does on its web site under "Interpreting the Service" explain the two concurrent connections >> http://www.gam.co.za/connectivity/adsl_uncapped.php

"This service is unshaped and no restrictions are placed on this service whatsoever eg P2P.A normal user name and password is provided for this service so clients may use there own routers. Though 2 x Concurrent connections are advertised, the second concurrent connection is designed to assist customers when there connection is sometimes locked on the network allowing them a second option to connect. "

With regard to the speed problems well um I agree and disagree, generally speaking our customers are happy with the service, though I do agree there are times when the service is not 100%. I think we all understand that Internet Services in SA is not what it should be.

I disagree. It is the resellers who are leading YOU to believe it is unshaped. OpenWeb does not advertise the product as unshaped (because it ISN'T) and other ISPs should be doing the same.

welcome

Welcome to myadsl

Hope you enjoy the ride

Well, I'm very glad I have IS uncapped.

You won't find this value for money anywhere else in SA broadband.

only true unshaped is sat3 and not international shatlite.

Impressive - if you dont mind me asking why did you upload so much?

Thine wish may be granted in the distant future... :D

But all the same here... unshaped, uncapped. Even if it's a dinky 384k line, I'll be grateful for it...

at least it's better than 128k isdn...

LOl very true the_librarian :D :D

I would also love to have an uncapped account, all of the services that are promoted by web2.0 and beyond require some nice bandwidth and a fair amount of usage!

I constantly find myself, saying "no can't check that new GTA 4 trailer i only have 10mb left this month", or, "cool a new podcast oh yeah only 10mb!"

I am using 384 if I could get a nicely priced 384 uncapped account even if it is shaped during day i would be very very happy!

then go somewhere where you earn enough to pay for one.

it doesn't just pop-up and appear for free ;)

It would appear that you enjoy paying exubarant prices for things Necuno. I suppose you drive a BMW and quite happy that you got ripped off in the process, as now it appears that you have loads of money and you can feel good about yourself.

I think you are missing the point slightly, it is not always about the size of your bank balance, but more often about something called value for money, which ADSL in SA is not.
