DRIVEN: Volkswagen Amarok 125kW Life is a refined middle ground offering

VERDICT

The Volkswagen Amarok Life with 125kW should tick most of the boxes for those seeking a mid-range bakkie that’s not too bare nor too fancy. But keep in mind that the equivalently powered Ranger XLT can be had for less, at R732,600, and there are plenty of more luxurious Chinese offerings at this level too.

But if you’re a Volkswagen brand fan and you appreciate a bakkie with refined road manners, the Amarok shouldn’t disappoint.

Fair i guess... but thats mos being built by ford

Not sure if we built the old gen amarok here or imported? if so, VW could still make the "vivo bakkie" and take on the china's with reduced pricing. but then again polo vivo prices... Eish

As far as I remember, we imported the Amarok previously, it wouldn't have been a big enough seller here to justify a production line.
