The VW Amarok Thread

Holy crap, R600K for a 2 litre bakkie? Also, 132kW @ 4000RPM...isn't that a little high up on the revcounter for a diesel? I'd like to see the torque specs rather.

Looks good though

Its out guys

Volkswagen has launched a special edition Amarok, the Ultimate, which, it says, is the first bakkie in the local market with Bi-xenon headlights (with LED daytime running lights) as standard.

The Amarok Ultimate is based on the top-of-the-range bakkie - 2.0 BiTDI 132kW 4Motion Highline with 8-speed auto.

The limited edition bakkie is priced at R600 200.

Style tweaks

The Amarok Ultimate has bi-xenons, LEDs, two twin chromed bars along the radiator grille, silver side-mirrors, darkened tail lights with LED number-plate illumination, polished 19" 'Cantera' alloys, ‘Ultimate’ badging, silver-coloured underbody guard and a styling bar and side-sills in chrome.

Upgraded features

The Amarok Ultimate is equipped with Park Distance Control (with reversing camera), powered and heatable side-mirrors, heatable front seats (in either Vienna or Alcantara leather), RCD 510 Radio/CD system with mobile phone preparation, rain sensor with intermittent wipers, auto diming rear-view mirror and special velour floor mats.

Optional features include the RNS 510 Radio/satnav with six-speakers and electronic interface for external use.

R600k and it has Bi-Xenon headlights...

Guys, what are you waiting for.. its a bargain. Wait until Ford do that mod, it will push the Ranger well past a million I reckon.

It's as bad as paying R900k+ for a Mustang... Sheesh... Do not want.

It's par for the course on modern 2l diesels, really- most new BMW/ Mercs will reach 4500 rpm with a few extra kW's easily. I estimate torque to be around 340 - 360 Nm at around 2000 rpm.

Going by the number of Wildtracks I see running around, 600k for a bakkie is pretty much acceptable.

The thing is, many people fall for it because they know that by the time it comes to face the residual they will want a newer car and be worried about the maintenance plan coming to an end. So in effect it is just a way to hook customers for life.

Its precisely that..

It turns it from a purchase agreement into a rental agreement with an option to buy at the end pretty much.

Looking at Fords Finance section, they seem to default to a 40% residual...
