"Rick, Shane, Glenn, and Daryl go into the forest to track him down. Glenn and Daryl split off from Rick and Shane and encounter Randall, who has somehow turned into a walker despite the lack of evidence of his having been bitten or scratched. Glenn then kills Randall again, by impaling him through the head with a machete. Meanwhile, Rick tells Shane to admit he plans to murder him. Shane holds Rick at gunpoint and they argue about who would be a better father to Carl and husband to Lori. Rick talks Shane into putting his gun down. Knowing he has to kill Shane, he stabs him in the heart. Carl arrives and appears to have pulled his gun on Rick, but then aims behind his father and puts a bullet into the head of a reanimated Shane (who, like Randall, also had no evidence of being bitten, and who – after Rick stabbed him – seemed to experience intense and disturbing zombie-like thoughts). Meanwhile, a massive number of walkers, drawn by the gunshots, are shown heading toward them."

IIRC, Rick stabbed the delusional Shane in the heart, Shane turned quickly, and got shot by Carl in the head. Everyone already has the virus as concluded in the TV-series, bites or scratches by walkers gives a higher dosage which can result in death, that is why by removing the limbs can stop the potent virus spreading to the brain to prevent imminent death.

These were people that died and turned. Not sure if Nerfherder's question is the same as mine but people claim there are characters who HAVE been bitten and did not turn. Randall was strangled by Shane if I remember correctly.

So, zombies just know they should go for major arteries...

The series has left the storyline of the comic books since the prison and the Governor (the cannibals were a little bit similar but not the Terminus where they came from), but this guy who showed up is I think a dude who is actively recruiting for a safe walled community. There's a lot of struggles between the existing occupants and Rick's gang with trust etc, but there are also some outside gangs trying to take over etc.

Oh, and in the comics, Rick gets the leg over :D

yes.

Also other characters have died without being bitten and have turned.
 
I haven't seen any of the latest episodes but looks like TWD has run its course on terms of where it can go story and character wise.

Time to bring in the origin story.
 
A tale of zombie survival horror...the comics also just go on and on. Not sure what the tv series is going to do in terms of resolution and I'm not even sure the writers know. I read an article last year that said they would go on to 11-12 seasons (obviously if the ratings held up) - I can't see that myself.

Well the last 2 episodes were very slow and over dramatic. I want thrills and action.

Well, that was a pretty short trip. In the comic, it took about 4 or 5 issues to reach Alexandria after they met Aaron for the first time.
