The Witcher 3 Official thread

I'm a little over 12 hours into W3 and it's going great. It's a shame that the main story just seems to be fetch quest after fetch quest, but the many side quests are mostly entertaining.

Hmm, not quite my experience. The main story and side quests so far is pretty well structured. The problem is when you're not doing the main story or side quests, then it starts feeling a little repetitive. Kinda like the filler content in the Far Cry games.

Luckily there's plenty of side quests and witcher contracts, so it's not like I really run out of fun things to do.

Don't blame me because you guys are incapable of admitting that a game you like has flaws.

People have admitted that it has flaws, you just kept going on and on. The foliage looks crap, I am not particularly fond of the voice acting, I find the horse controlling a bit odd, The scenes look under rendered. Am i still enjoying the game? Yes. But i have not played the previous editions so i cannot compare it.

The only reason it went "on and on" was because some users got butthurt by me saying the controls are bad and then decided to insult me for it. I thought it was funny.

People around here and on MyGaming are so defensive of their games.

Patch 1.04 will show your textures as set to low in the menu, but they will be set to ultra or whatever you had selected. Previous patch had the same issue.

I also just saw that you can enable witcher sense for the minimap.

Bought the game on GOG. Started the intro..then decided its sacrilege to play it on my old video card.
So bit the bullet and ordered a gtx960 4gb...now I'm excited.

oh I'll have a extra witcher3 key if anyones interested in buying it.

That golem was a real bitch. The key is to hit him once and then roll away before he can retaliate. I kept dying because I wanted to get two or three hits in at a time. It takes forever otherwise, but it's how I got through it.

Otherwise you just have to learn to dodge-roll really well.

Is this the Golem you fight while in running around in that cave with Keira Mitz? That one wasn't that hard. The Gargoyle though took a bit of effort. Nothing really works on him...hit + roll away...far away

The gollum was okay for me... I died twice but got it on the third time. LOTS of rolling, thunderbolt and Quen. I skipped the gargoyle! Maybe will go back later.

But after the gollum there's another boss fight... No spoilers but... Hy was moeilik!!

Oh and BTW... after that quest, Keira will approach you with another mission, to find a lamp with her in the same cave. If you accept it, just keep in mind there is a Place of Power in those caves, for an extra Ability point.

EDIT: Bloody Hell this game is epic!!

Yeah, ****it, that boss was infuriating. I hate when developers make you deal with lesser enemies while the boss takes a 'break'. In this case a break that heals him.

Still, it felt good beating him. Pity my sword was better than the one he dropped. :(

Thanks - I'll try that.

That was the worst part! And he does it TWICE in the fight! My strategy that worked in the end was to wait for Keira to stun him with a telekenetic blast, then I would run in, get in 2 fast attacks and back off again. Rinse and repeat till it was over. Thankfully had my fast attacks upgraded quite well by then. But definitely not a close combat battle this one!

OK I didn't have a real problem with the guy after the gollum, but that Gargoyle :wtf:

If you go to the south of the Vellen world there is a big Gargoyle (amongst lots of other bad things) waiting for you. Some of the monster levels in those areas just show "??"

Aggh - I just can't seem to kill the Golem! Keep running out of potions.

Note to self ... stock up on lots more potions!!

Remember you can meditate any time to replenish your oils and potions, if you're about to go into a fight and low on health, you can meditate chug 3 swallow potions and then meditate again so you've for them for the fight.

I didn't have any trouble with the golems (playing on hard), just roll out the way when he does an attack and quickly jump back to land a few blows before his next attack. If you have time to land a slow power attack it does a decent amount of damage, but often you don't have time, and can rather land two quick attacks.

Thunderbolt potion goes a long way to increasing your damage, you can use igni to do a bit of fire damage to the golem if you're spec'd into it, Tawny Owl helps with this as well.

Big thing with the witcher is getting used to the combat, because the enemies are so varied and you have to mix up your strategy a bit.

Nice one, out of interest where'd you get the 960 from? I haven't seen many places that have the 4gb variants.

That's not new as far as I know, saw it there before this patch.

Ah, I only noticed the option now, probably missed it before. One thing the patch does do that's a bit annoying is reset keybinds.
