The Witcher 3 Official thread

I'll never understand why somebody would use walkthroughs and other aids to complete a game, especially this game.
You make it sound like it's all or nothing. The game is an entertainment product at the end of the day. If you want to struggle with a tiny selection of upgrade points and spend hours searching for places of power then go right ahead and enjoy yourself (no sarcasm). I don't enjoy that aspect of the game however so I elected to consult a map when I reached each new area so I could blitz through them and spend my time enjoying the main quests, side quests and witcher bounties.

I started a new game, and I'm finding the game more enjoyable the second time round. There's no rush to press forward as I know which choices have consequences and which don't. I'm collecting every single Gwent card and not leaving out a single side quest or witcher bounty. I also looked out how to get the ending I want, so I'll be sure to choose those dialogue options when the time comes.

What are you going for the ahole or the goodguy?

Good guy. I was mostly good last time too. It's interesting to see how differently things could have gone though. Also this time I won't cheat on Yennifer.

About 4 hours in and I'm of the opinion that this may be the best rpg I've ever played.
Sorry Phantasy Star 4, but this is sooo good :(.

I can only play about 2 hours a day. :(

It's going to take me a while to finish it. :)
In that case you probably won't have time for a second playthrough, so I'll give you some non-spoiler pointers for having a successful story:

- Make sure you help all the major characters who give you quests, and in a timely manner.
- If you coddle Ciri you will reduce her self-confidence and belief in herself.
- Don't start the final showdown if you have loose ends in your list of quests.

That should guide you towards a much more rewarding experience.

Might be a SPOILER, so stop reading if you don't like spoilers: So, just killed the Witch, Keira, after I've slept with her.......is that good or bad for the story? Felt like I was forced into fighting her...

Combat is actually really easy once you get the 100% dmg reduction on dodge. I find that in the lower levels, it is my misstimed dodge that makes me take dmg.

Also, is it just me, or is it like every single enemy you can basically take down with a 3x fast attack->1x side strafe dodge to change the angle and dodge the potential strike from the mob. Then watch their attack pattern if they have one, or if they are the standard adventuring trash, just rinse and repeat. The side strafe dodge seems to "reset" the mob because of the change in attack angle.
Basically they either attack where you were after 3 fast strikes, in which case the dodge puts you on their flank and ready to punnish them, or they just stand there passively and you can rip them a new one all over again.

It doesn't quite work like that on bigger story enemies. But this attack pattern has gotten me through most of my fights, completely unscathed.

Firstly, you can't get the achievement for having a full team against The Hunt later on, and secondly, you deprived Lambert of his soul mate. It also might impact your ability to live happily ever after with Yen, but probably not.

Go sit in a corner and think about what you've done.

I only slept with her 'cause she's hot and showed more cleavage than I could have ever hoped for. Killing her was not my first thought, but she tried to blackmail me, no way Yennie or Triss could find out about my one-night stand with a witch. :wtf:

Well, to be fair, I didn't want to kill her. I was just talking to her and the next moment she attacked me. Will check tonight and restore just before that and try to get a different outcome.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I should pull the trigger on this, I bought Dragon Age II and then ended up not enjoying the playstyle...
The Witcher 3 kills Dragon Age. Especially Dragon Age 2, which is regarded by everyone as the worst in the series.

Having completed DA 2 I can offer this.

The witcher 3 is a truly sandbox experience, think Skyrim but with better combat.
The choices you make in the DA series and mass effect series, have shades of grey. With TW 3, you find yourself saying "wtf did I just do a whole lot". Think 1000 shades of grey'ish.

Last, and most importantly, the quality and quantity of epic boobs in TW3 surpasses every game known to man.
