The Witcher 3 Official thread

Played some last night. I need to get a new screen. My old school 1600x900 is not doing my 970 any justice :(

But all smooth... but not the pre-recorded cut scenes (non dialogue) so much... looks awesome, but jerky.

The in game play and dialogue cut scenes all smooth... but the leaves looks schit. Especially noticable those things that grow up the side of the castle... all moves together... :(

Dunno how you manage with that res. I've been on FHD for years now. No going back, either. Just like SSDs.

So because the people in the Steam forums are ****ing useless and take everything as an attack, can someone explain to me how the open world works? Can I freely travel between zones a la Skyrim, or do I have to use fast travel to get from one zone to the next?

I was on 1600x900 until the beginning of this year too. The nice thing is it allows you to crank up lots of other graphical options on a midrange rig. The not so nice thing is that lately they're designing game interfaces for FHD, so the actual viewing space on such a small monitor has been getting smaller and smaller.

I'm on a 23" FHD now and I won't go back again.

Hi guys, I need to know more about this game. Is it like Skyrim where you can play different classes like a Caster or a melee and so on. Crafting, levelling skills and what not?

I bought the exact same one last week. How's yours? I'm having some issues with LPS glow and I'm not sure if it's normal or I have a defective monitor.

It's flawless. Not one single issue.

O wait, there is one. This forum as an example on the screen feels like it's not rounded enough. The letters look a but under pixelated if that is the correct term. But it seems to only be on the windows front end. When in games it's perfect. It might just be a setting I'm missing somewhere.

This exactly this will try and fix it tonight and update.

The open world is like Skyrim, except no load screens. You can quicktravel via sign posts if you want (I don't) or you can ride there yourself with your horse. The horse AI and handling is also far superior to Skyrim's.

You can also walk in/out of buildings or explore hidden areas without any load screen.

Not exactly. Witcher's have 3 main things in their toolbelt:

Sword fighting
Basic magic called signs
Alchemy

When you start the game, you have basic skills in all 3, as you level up you get skill points that you can allocate into each, you can focus on sword fighting, or make your signs more powerful or buff the potions and oils you make with alchemy.

There's also a set of general skills, eg: health regen out of combat, and you get mutagens which buff your abilities.

Hmm, maybe I should just RMA mine. I can only view at certain angles otherwise the it gets hard to see the entire screen. Corners as an example glow slightly silver. I thought it might be that I need to get used to it, but I'm not sure.

A link to the obvious graphical downgrade, thanks to consoles (and yes I own a console), I really hope someone mods the holy hell out of this game until it looks that good again, feeling a bit cheated in that sense but the game play and story is pretty decent, a few minor glitches but nothing a patch can't fix, I would rate this a 7.5/10 not a full on 10/10 like some of these "review" sites aka paid advertisers.

Also here is an example of the downgrade:

No definitely then something wrong with the screen. Mine is perfectly clear. Just the texts on windows when I used google chrome especially is very odd looking.

CPR said yesterday there's a big patch with over 600 changes coming for PC, and will have more graphical elements that we can tweak like draw distance and so on.

They really did themselves a disservice with the downgrade, the game itself is fantastic.

If they fix the graphics issue then I will give them a 8/10. The story so far is good but it's not better than other RPG's I've played.

I want to get this, played the witcher 1 and 2. Did any of you buy the hard copy, what did you get with it? Map, artbook etc.
