The Witcher 3 Official thread

Making my way through the thread now as a new player, but don't see much about meditation.

What's that all about?

Meditate for an hour and your health, potions etc are restored

Yes, nice on. Meditation is very handy indeed.

Just trying to whack this werewolf now but I'm still not even on level 4 (905/1000), so I've left it to head off and try to climb up a few levels before coming back to finish the quest.

Levelling up is a pretty slow affair.

You need the book Beast's Clothes, which can be found anywhere randomly. It will tell you how to most effectively fight a werewolf.

I never struggled with any of the werewolf encounters though. Just oil your blade, make good use of your signs and potions, get a few strikes in before initiating evasive manoeuvres etc.

Oil? Bah - I only oiled up for Jenny. For the rest I just kept on killing bandits etc to skill up so I can hit them harder!

I got the book eventually after giving a hungry child some food :) I'm going to level up a bit before going back to that werewolf though.

One thing I noticed though, is that a blacksmith's goods for sale changes every time you visit him. This one had a level 4 silver sword and I decided to go back for it, but it had disappeared from his range. I exited his shop, went back again immediately, and it was there this time but the level 4 steel sword which had appeared first time, had also gone now.

Good luck. Wish I could lend you my 560 damage silver sword.

This game drags . . .

I think it's all about planning. For example, I got fscked up by the level 7 werewolf when I was on level 3 so I decided to leave it until later and build up the right potions and be prepared for it next time. So I've got to level 4 so far, got a level 4 silver sword instead of the level 1 I had when I took it on before, I've found the book Bryn mentioned and am currently doing other stuff while keeping an eye open for wolfsbane to complete a potion I need.

I'm still on level 1. Theres so much stuff to do I completely forgot about leveling up.

I think we should have a noob Witcher 3 thread lol!

For those that already have one play through down...

The Witcher 3 getting New Game+ mode in final batch of free DLC

The final piece of free downloadable content for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will add a "New Game+" mode to CD Projekt Red's open-world role-playing game, the developer confirmed in a Facebook post today.

The New Game+ mode is aimed at players who have already completed The Witcher 3. Although CD Projekt Red didn't detail its plans for the New Game+, the mode typically allows players to restart their adventure while retaining the items and experience gained in their previous play-through. New Game+ modes in other games often alter scenarios or difficulty, but it sounds like we'll have to wait to hear more about CD Projekt Red's approach.

"Stay tuned for more info regarding the release," the developer said on Facebook. "It won't happen this week though — we need a little bit more time to finish it."

The final batch of DLC for The Witcher 3 brings CDPR's plan to release 16 pieces of free content for the game to a close. The developer also plans to release a pair of paid expansions for the game, which it says will add about 30 hours of new adventures to the game. The first expansion, Hearts of Stone, is slated for release in October. The add-on sends Geralt into the wilds of No Man's Land and the city of Oxenfurt to complete a contract from the Man of Glass. The second expansion, Blood and Wine, is scheduled for release during the first three months of 2016. Players can explore Toussaint, a new in-game region of The Witcher 3, which CD Projekt Red describes as "a land untainted by war, where an atmosphere of carefree indulgence and knightly ritual masks an ancient, bloody secret."

The Witcher 3's paid DLC expansions will be available as part of the game's Expansion Pass, which costs $24.99.
