The Workout and Fitness Thread

Hey folks been a while, training's been meh this year, I started running this minimalist routine for the last 2 weeks just to ease myself in

yoh - weighted pullups. LOL. My weighted pulls ups -40kg (resistance band) x 0.5, however, I am 95kg and need to be 80kg as per calc. Also, never done pull ups really so that doesn't help.

For 74kg body weight, squats are impressive - don't know about bench press as I wasn't fond it.

No deadlift though ?

Watched some YT video and as an experiment, started with body weight squats 3 days ago. Aim is to get 100 in a day for 30 days to see results, in sets of 5 even if it is interspersed throughout the day. Not expecting strength gains like one would get with weighted squats of course. Got to 60 (3 sets) yesterday. I cranked up 20 squats while I was waiting for son to wear his shoes/socks so 80 to go now.
actually reminds me of an article I read yday that was excerpted from a book by Pavel Tsatsouline and Dan John.

Really interesting and as I am trying to get back into my routine slowly.

Who are your favourites in the fitness industry?

This is a nice dumbbell only workout - they have other programs only:

Following this series, I discovered goblet squats for the first time - can't remember the last time I was that winded from weight training. (barbell squats never had the same effect - deadlifts maybe)

Some of those calcs are a farce. I'm 105kg - currently a 36" waist - going to drop to 95kg. According to Discovery and my fitness watch, I should be about 76-78kg.... I recon I'd be dead.

im coming across very inquisitive today  but whats your height?

I have deadlifts on my alternate cluster (muscle ups-overhead press-deadlift variation) I'm not actually trying to develop my deadlifts any further

He has to be between 170-180cm if discovery says 75-78 kg "ideal" weight. I am assuming under 25 BMI.
I am in that height range and thats the heaviest I have ever managed to get, under 70 now.

Different bodies I suppose.

I'm obese according to Discovery
  While I am targeting 80kg as my "ideal" weight, I am reasonably confident that once I get to 87 or so, I will feel way healthier than I do and that is enough for me. I am 95kg now like you and feel way better than 102kg I was earlier.

I think BMI is just one tool that one can look at as a benchmark but I don't think that is THE yardstick we should use it. There are different body types, metabolism and other genetic factors.

Quite similar to my workout, however I do front squats and no benching whatsoever (bad shoulder).

Here's my pull day exercises:

Reps x sets x kg (bodyweight if omitted)

Edit: I should say mostly pull - I do mix and match a bit

Now that you got Australian & Egyptians in workout, you should try Indian lazysits - please contact @ShaunSA or @Aghori for details

What sort of split do the boets in the group follow?
Push/pull? Chest/arm/legs? Upper/lower?
