The Workout and Fitness Thread

Yo that's good. Same, but it's a bit of an arbitrary metric for me so not something I've ever really bothered with. Been walking barefoot for the last 2 months, doing more squats and lunges so curious to see what changes.
I have tightness behind the knees so that is something I work on to improve the toe touches. Ultimate goal would be like an elephant walk.

That's pretty nuts...I'm on a 28 days streak . I've always taken a rest day between lifts so I usually miss out on those days, but now recently have started doing light cardio on rest days.
I have a few rest days per week where I reduce my move goal a little and have 4 - 6 heavier workout days with the goal set pretty high.
Even on rest days I'll do some kind of light workout, even if it's just walking, playing table tennis, playing badminton, VR gaming or whatever.

Got some resistance bands. Really enjoying the ankle straps & being able to put a pair on & clip in & out.

Nice. I like resistance bands for training different movements, including adduction and internal/external rotation which are difficult to do with bodyweight or free weights alone. A pretty cost effect alternative to a cable machine.

Second weight session after surgery.
I have been walking around 3 to 4km daily but felt ready to add some light weights.

Have done everything around 20% of my normal weights, even then, what a great feeling. My mental well being is has improved already. First time in over 4 years I have done exercise without any kind of back brace or support!

Absolutely ecstatic so far with the surgery results and the ability to be physical again! Will wait a few more weeks before some golf and then I am hoping to add proper cardio again.

Great start to a week!

The quality is good. These go for R250+ for a single band at Sportmans Warehouse, this is R450 for everything. Actually been to Sportsmans Warehouse a few times recently and I find them very expensive for most things - even just dumbells were more than most other places.

I like how your core is working when doing sideways pulls etc.

I love that guy's energy, crazy fker

Finally started today after a very long time. Taking things exceptionally easy just getting my body used to some activity again. Had a slipped disc end of last year so that was a wakeup call to get things strengthened up again.

As a general side question who do you guys use for supplements now a days.?

Anyone here who does callisthenics? I’m amazed at the absolute strength it takes to master it. Been watching a lot of Chris Heria videos as I familiarise myself with it.
I got interested in calisthenics a few years ago when I was doing a lot of obstacle course races. Even basics really helped with upper body strength. I got about to 'advanced basic' level (I think there is such a thing - makes sense to me!) where I had a good level of strength but was still on the lower skill progressions- frogstands, wall handstands, skin the cat etc..

If you are interested in classes or a trainer for it, contact Titan Fitness SA on Facebook. The guy who runs it is more into body building and powerlifting now but come from a cali background and also has a couple of good guys who work with him. They used to run calisthenics classes at Sandton Sports Club before lockdown - not sure if they are doing any at the moment.

Did some strength training on Nike Training Club yesterday, looks like a decent option for working out at home and I'm amazed that it all seems to be free content - no subscriptions or purchases required. After NTC, did some cardio on the elliptical.
