I thought maybe it's a good idea for Xperia X1 owners and owners to be to contribute to this thread.

You can post your Xperience with the phone.

What Panels you are using.

What software you are using.

What accessories you bought.

Etc......

Even if you find nice links on the internet such as video clips, reviews, helpfull information, tips and trikcs, etc....

Here is a link to a forum especially for Xperia X1 owners.

http://www.xperiax1.net/forum/

I hope to see lots of you here soon.;)

Please don't forget to post all the negatives of the Xperia as well. There are many.

And it doesn't come close to the N96.

Hello, have seen you lurking at XDA Piesang.

Due to a service error @ VC bussiness I demanded any free phone from them and they said yes.
I chose an xperia silver and was told I could get it today, but have since been told I can only get it on friday.

Everything is setup for a rom change as soon as I get it.

ROM change?? So quick?? I havent read any info on the ROMs so far on XDA. Is there any ROM on there that you think will be better than the factory ROM? And if so, what?

The Xperia does have a slower cpu than the HTC Touch PRO but much more RAM helps the Xperia running those nice applications with ease. One thing I'm going to do as soon as I get my Xperia is to load TouchFLO3D on it. Must be nice having a Xperia and Touch HD at the same time.

Not true. I thought so too, and that was a major misgiving on my part to getting an X1, but the only difference is a revision for patent infringement.

11999! Thats more than the 2 years of payments to MTN for the X1 and then you still get R350 airtime a month. 459 x 24 =11016.

It's crazy man.

Even a place like cacell charge over R10,000 for the Xperia.

Pricing overseas is anything from $700 - $1,000. And I'm sure if these guys import it they are not even going to pay $700. They will get it for much cheaper.

So say for instance they pay $600 then they make about R3,500 - R5,500 profit on the Xperia.

I don't think you can do the maths like that guys.... I think the cell companies assume they are going to make more out of you that the provided free value.... and if not you then from the client base as a whole hence the overall price paid upfront being more than that offered on a contract. This is the same with most contracts. Tie yourself in, get a cheaper price.

They probably order a sh_t load more stock than the suppliers of cash only devices so get far better prices.

Luckily with these new Anytime packages I know if I pay R350/m for a Anytime350 I get R350 worth of airtime that I can use for anything. Yes, I know, they do still make a nice profit on that too because that R350 is much more than the actual cost of that R350 value I get.

The cellphone companies only wish that all clients use much more airtime than they actually get on a contract because that way it makes up for that "free" phone they gave you.

Yeah at R2+ per minute they are already milking us for all we are worth! I do agree I would never pay cash for a phone as I'd rather get that R350 free value than pay R2+ per minute from the first minute out my pocket after already forking out R11000+!
