The Xperia X1 Thread

wow, i just spent the last couple hours doing some serious playing and digging on my x1. im more in love now than before.... hehe even typing this on the x1. opera is great.

i have everything working very stable.... which for me is my google apps mail, im+ messenger, mobile banking.

my only issue now is my mms. because i got a vodaphone version x1 it wont seem to allow the mtn ota to install. please guys, if any of you guys are on mtn please go into your mms settings and send me all the details you see. ive tried so many diff versions that ive found on net but to no avail

One final question I have about the X1 is about usage.
Besides the usuals - Outlook, Internet, SMS, calling I will be using MXit and listening to music.
Can anyone confirm that this expience will be pleasant. I.e. how well does mxit work on the phone ? and is the music player any good - playlists? is it easy to change songs while browsing the web for example? and lastly what is sound quality like through earphones

Hope this all made sense
Dont try to do too much multitasking on the Xperia. It will freeze.

Is anyone on Vodacom who has the X1 on Garmin XT. I'm having a problem setting up the gps receiver, maybe I'm just to impatient. How long does it take to register the internal GPS. Must I change any settings on the internal receiver for Garmin to recognize it. I keep getting a message that only Garmin GPS are allowed. Help!

Listen here Piesang!

Stop dissing the X1, you stuffed yours up and I can see you are now sorry you are sitting with a Nokia N96 because it's not half the phone the X1 is. This thread is about the X1 and owners of the X1 that want to share info about the phone. Now get over it and go post endless dribble as you usualy do in the N96 thread!

Enough already!!!!

I started this thread so I guess I can post here if I want. To tell you the truth, the Xperia could never be or replace a N96.

Funny how I stuffed up 3 units, one that was damaged without me even using it.

I was so eager to get my hands on a Xperia. Unfortunately I'm utterly disgusted in the Xperia. If one of those units I had worked perfectly I still would've use it now but unfortunately the Xperia coudn't keep up with my heavy usage.

The N96 on the other hand, well, what can I say. Sending files via Bluetooth while listening to music and surfing the web via Wifi all at the same time. You go and try that with your Xperia.

First batch high end phones nearly always have major problems. Anyone remember all the E90's returned? so many that nokia had to revise the phone, look how good the phone is now. Also the TYTN2 video problems?

I can't remember exactly when the E90 was released but I got mine January 2008 and never had a single problem with it. Same with my N96, first batch and still going strong.

It just shows. Never change from Nokia.;)

You started the thread, so what? you never gave anyone who actually had the phone to start it. You constantly post useless nonsensical posts that mean nothing to anyone.

There are thousands of X1 owners around the world including me that are happy with it and never tried to change the software to something it's not meant to be.

If you have no positive input or something that can benefit others that actually have the phone then keep your worthless opinion to yourself!

In other words, GET A LIFE!

never tried to change the software to something it's not meant to be.

I've never tried to change it. I only installed a simple application that change the Today Screen, more like a plug-in that was created especially for the Xperia.

And the day when I had missed calls and messages because I couldn't hear the phone in a noisy environment??? Well, that sucks. But then again, if you sit in a office all day with the phone in front of you on the desk and it works for you then I'm happy for you. It didn't work for me though because I don't sit in a office all day.

Luckily I got rid of mine within the 7day return window. I dont want to send my phone in and wait 4 weeks for it to return.

Something I find very interesting Piesang. You say you had 3 faulty units.

So how can you compare your faulty X1's to a working N96.

Get a working X1 and then compare the performance to a working N96.

P.S. did you also apply software mods to the N96 alot and then try using it, or just the plain old crap it came with and think its god.

And before ya go on about how it doesnt need any mods, its not a winmo device, almost all winmo devices need a few mods to satisfy users all over the world

1. Well, it shouldn't have been faulty in the first place. Expensive faulty phone doesn't work for me.

2. SE had it's chance. This was the last time I made a mistake to change from Nokia to something else.

3. I didn't apply any software mods to the N96, only updated its firmware (Something SE should be doing fast to the Xperia). And yes, the N96 doesnt need any modding. Why do you have to modify a R10000 phone to work the way it should anyway??? If I buy a 2009 BMW M3 then I'm definately not going to have to install any performance accessories for it to perform now would I????

It's crap man, CRAP I'm telling you.

Just to add one more thing. If SE used the Symbian UIQ for the Xperia then it wouldn't been a great phone, even better with Symbian 60.

There is nothing wrong with the hardware side of the Xperia.;)

Besides for the cracks appearing and paint falling off.

Now that's another story.;)

Can't remember anything like that happened to any of my Nokia's. Except for the other day when my E90 fell on the tar when I was climbing in the car. Luckily it fell on the Steel Hindge so nothing happened to the phone itself, just some marks on the hindge.

I think you mean would but I agree about UIQ, S60 just wasn't made for touchscreen (every review I've read for the tube seems to say the same thing). The only problem is that UIQ can't seem to support more advanced hardware which is why they killed it. I would have gotten the X1 if it were UIQ.

Why don't you try installing HTC Touch software on your glorified N95 and see how it doesn't work and then take it back to your service provider and tell them what a piece of **** it is. You obviousely DONT have a life and can sit and constantly post useless information on every single thread you click on.

What are you, a F@#$ing jehovas witness or something?

Forums are a means of exchanging USEFULL information, not the constant 12 year old bull**** that comes out of your face, I'm sure most people on this forum are sick and tired of listening to your crap, now why don't you go out and try make some friends and stop your ongoing meaningless posts on this forum.

If you have something to say that will be usefull to others here please do so by all means! otherwise STFU!!!!
