The Xperia X1 Thread

cannot disagree with those comments, the speaker volume is a bit disappointing but hey thats life. It was unfortunate for piesang but X1 is an awesome phone!!

I used a phone with an accelerometer and I think it not that cool. Like when you lie on your bed and roll over to the side and stuff while using the phone starts going some strange stuff and gets confused

Nokia N97 can't compare with X1:
1. N97 processor same as 2 years old N95, far behind X1
2. Screen is 360 x 640, far away from X1 480 x 800
3. n97-Symb.9.4 S60 5th Ed. and X1-Windows Mobile 6.1Pro
and n97 will maybe in may-june-july

My X1 has just arrived. Well done MTN and Veronique at MTNSP SME for keeping promises made.

Initial impressions are very good. Phone looks good and has a great tactile feel to it. Quality seems excellent. The screen-- turning on for the first time looks WOW of note. I have not seen any other device/phone with as nice a screen.

Synching speed compared to a P990 is simply astounding.

Now comes the part where I install all sorts on it.

Will keep you all posted if I come across any issues.

Congrats!!!!Which store did you get yours from? Mine coming from the one in fourways mall...Can't wait for all to be processed :D

I'm thinking about insuring mine when I get it, but it flippin' R180 pm for phone value of R8000-R10000:eek::eek: and I think it was -+R150 pm for value of R6000-R8000.. so you have to take into consideration that the phone price will drop and so replacement cost might be like R7000. Btw this insurance is through phonesure available at the MTN connect stores. I am wondering what replacement or the screen would cost ? R3000:( R4000:eek: R5000 :eek:

Be very careful on the insurance side, as mine is insured(it has to be!!) and a lot of insurance places do not insure for accidental damage and are not all risk insured.

Mine is insured with ABSA insurance and i am insured for all risk, which means pretty much insured for everything, ie. water damage, dents etc it does cost more but at least you have a piece of mind. So just be careful and find out what exactly you are insured for.

Accidental damage
Liquid damage
World wide cover
Theft
Extended warranty

Thats what is covered

then that is perfect, just gotta fork out the money now!! It will give you a piece of mind trust me!!

Just ordered mine - great to deal with Lerato from MTN Fouwars

Yea she has an idea about whats happening...Don't speak to mpho (excuse the spelling) she don't know the difference between a toothpick and a stylus. She has screwed me around big time !!!!!

Here is my situation

2004- open contract with cellc
2006- ported number to MTN through Supercall/autopage cellular (did this for better deal and cause my mom's MTN contract was through them)
Oct 2008- my contract term expires and I start running on a month to month basis
nov 2008- see X1 in MTN specials thing, call around and find MTN fourways getting 10 in, I order one and explain the above situation, mpho "seems" to understand and I ask "when I come in what should I bring" she replyies " money for adman fee and pay in for X1 and your mom (cause contract still on her account at supercall) and your mom should bring her I.D
20 Dec 2008- I arrive at MTN fourways and she promptly hands me phone box :o and gives all paperwork to my mom.....then all goes wrong....
Today- mpho phones and says I have to cancel my current account and cannot port because it through Supercall, so I have to give supercall 30 days notice now and that way I can re-use my current number....then I get another call from mpho and now I need to fax through payslip, 3 months bank statements, Latest invioce from supercall and I might get the phone on sat now :mad::mad::mad:

All above make sense ?

to me it sounds all a bit too messed up, in all honesty this has the receipe for disaster... how important is your current number to you?? because why don't you just apply straight through MTN service provider then go through super call!! That way if you have issues in the future you can deal with MTN SP directly!!

Yea...If you don't my asking what value did you get the phone covered for ?

If i remember correctly they told me the phone costs around 11000(give or take) so had it insured for R13000, to be on the safe side!!

I am contenplating doing exactly that..either way I do not wanna go through supercall no matter what....I will see what feedback I get from mpho tomorrow and if the ball isn't rollling yet then bye bye 084 number and hello new number

Maybe I will investigate through absa...just to see....I was thinking of insuring for like R8000..I'm still in high school !!!!!so I have to choose where my money goes carefully...Most of the time anyway lol

I have just left cell c and i can tell you something that the service provided by MTN SP is a million times better than that offered by being with cell c. If you do it that way at least then you do not have a middle man anymore and then you do not enter problems like this!!
