The Xperia X1 Thread

hahaha

these guys reckon though the image taken by the N96 camera is bigger the X1 is sharper and better....lol lol lol

Just another reason the X1 is better

As for battery life...been running a test
charged phone on wednesday night then:

Thursday;
music at gym for two hours with screen off
then sat on mxit at work for 4 hours and checked mail etc in between
got home and turned wifi on and browsed web for an hour
watched a movie on phone and then fell asleep listening music with screen off
Today;
in the morning bat was sitting at 70%
watched 3/4 of movie at work
mxit for 2 hours
games for 5 hours
got home and wifi on for 1 hour
gym for 1 hour with screen off
now i'm back home and L2m again and battery sitting at 40%
No charging for 2 solid days and could prob manage another day of heavy use !!!!

must say though the X1 gets F**king hot when watching a movie

Don't worry about that info. It's not true. No phone will give you that much performance with one charge.

so whats the norm?

Any multimedia phone with that much functions will give you less than a day with heavy usage.

Xperia, N95, Omnia, N96, HTC Touch. Are some of the phones that I had and still have. With heavy usage not one of them lasted a full day.

Above average usage they will give you 2 days.

Normal usage the Xperia and Omnia will give you 3 - 4 days.

Thanks Piesang...

Just got off the line to SE south africa... one of the techys there told me that my battery will improve over time... (i have only had it for a few days), and he reckons what you say... normal standard usage will last upto 2 days... so i am happy about that... just got to get over the "Teething" period where it lasts a day with standard usage...

He also said you can charge the battery whenever... empty or not... he did state that it was recommended to wait for the battery to go flat 1st, then charge, but said it wasnt a train smash if you just charged it..

My question is this... who here charges the phone whenever and who waits for it to go flat, and your experiences on either... Please.

I actually di get that...piesang so buzz off

What I do is I disabled 3g, I alsays put phone on standby and screen brightness is set to auto..

As for the battery..Give it some time...like 3 weeks and discharge it to 10% then turn the phone off and charge it over night with the AC charger...I now do this every 1-2 weeks...read tips on google on increasing lithium ion battery life

I tested and when I don't use the phone for the day the battery is still on 100% at the end of the day....

Alos take into consideration the hotter it is the less effient a battery is. I.e. if the phone is in a hot car or office or even clothing pocket it generates heat so the bat won't last long...notice how all the places ii do stuff with the phone are air conned ? gym and school only time my X1 gets hot is when charging and watching a movie

the tech incorporated into the battery allows for ot to be charged at anytime as the battery does not have a memory. However it is recommended that you discharge and recharge without discharge every 500 hours( so discharge, recharge with the phone turned off every 20 days) make sense ? also NEVER let the phone/battery die totally as this messes up the Ion crytals in the battery

Thank you for all that info... FINALLY, i can relax and actually enjoy the phone... all thanks to you guys!

you said you turn off 3g, as in, go into comms manager, and turn it off?

No, you would need to tell the phone to completely turn 3G of. I.E. disable the functionality entirely. I can't remember how exatly this is achieved, but it was something to do with the network selection i believe. Sorry i can't be of more help, but my phone is in for repairs on a faulty screen/GPU :(

To diable 3g;
press green call button->menu->options->band-> set network type to gsm-> save and reset

The best cash deal on this phone I've seen is at GAME for R7299 on Vodacom. I would like to buy the phone, but I'm worried about it being Vodacom stock (I'm on MTN). What do you guys think?

That sould like a great deal. I would buy it, hardSPL and flash to Uk generic rom r2a

only thing you need to do with your pc is transfer the ROM to the memory card

hey guys is it possible to get vodacom to flash the phone back to generic?

definately not. they will probably even tell you its not possible ;)

aaarrgh, these type of things really pees me off!!!
anyhow it doesnt seem to difficult to do it myself
will this void the warranty?

Hey guys does anyone know if its possible to switch the radio to AM? is there maybe some third party app to do this?

I dont think this is possible... dont think the hardware is capable of picking up AM frequencies..
