R13.5878

wonder if we'll see any further improvements? or is this as good as it gets?

I'm feeling positive (as I'm sure may of you are after this election), so going to hold off on about R10k worth of electronics purchases for a month or two. No rush (for Battlefield 1 in October).

realistically and looking at our zar performance for the last 5 years. Getting to R20/$ is still a very realistic and possible scenario. Maybe not right now or even in this year. But by 2018 or 2019 we could very well be at R20 or worse to the $.

I truly hope and wish i'm wrong though.

That's the trouble with these doomsday prophecies, people are always extending their timelines until they're right.

i hear ya. I'm far from the doomsday cANCer fanclub and hope our battered ZAR has seen its worse and now improves. 2008 we we around R6/$ right? 2012 we were R8/$. 4 years later we hit R16/$ (actually 17 for a day but ya) so come 2019 who knows?

IF SA keeps at a poor GDP and even worse governance and the USA wakes up - we'll always be at the short end of the stick.

on an unrelated note. After the recent elections... where are the "zimbabwe here we come" crowd :D

We are going to hit fairly substantial support soon. Buyers will be piling up around the R13 level, so for the downward trend to continue we will first have to get through that. There is also the previous R13.30 historic high from the early 2000's iirc. Looking at the chart i wouldn't be surprised if we bounce around R13. If thats happens, i'd look to the previous lows around R14 to be the area of resistance which hopefully sees the continuation of the current downward trend.
