I have 2 x PC's right now (specs below) and I only need only one :

(3 years old)
P4 3ghz HT
1GB RAM
80GB SATA HDD
128MB AGP G-Force and

(18 months old)
Celeron D 1.6ghz
1GB RAM
320GB SATA
Internal card

Due to the Celeron D being newer, it has PCI Express and faster RAM etc

My initial thought was to sell the Cerelon D as is - but you all said I'd be lucky to get R500.00. Then I thought put the P4 chip onto the Celeron D board (P4 on the newer board)- and sell the Celeron D in the P4 box ... but I guess I'd be looking at R500 again.

Now I'm thinking sell the P4 as is and get maybe R1,500.00 - pr is that too optomistic?

Why do I have the assumption you are rich......?

I say burn 'em. keep the hdd's.

If I was rich, I would burn em ;) But I'm not ... so I won't ....

I say, take them to pieces - Build up a really good one and sell the 2nd one for whatever price.

Yea that was the idea ...

R1,500 is high IMO.

You'd probably get away with selling it for around R1,000 - R1,200 (with screen mouse, keyboard etc.)

Erk. ThenI I'll keep it at that price ...

Thanks.

First you have to find a buyer. Maybe some student really desperate for a pc will buy it off you for change. Otherwise keep the screen and hdd, make something more of your Celeron D.

I reckon Gumtree would be your best bet. Sad to say, but there's a lot of n00bs out there.
You can probably pick up around R2000 - R2500 for the P4 with screen & peripherals

Who told you that you'd only receive r500 for the Celeron d? The HDD alone is worth that much secondhand. If you're selling that rig for R500 give me a shout first.

That thread lists it with an 80gb hdd, but you're saying now it has 320gb. That makes a big difference to the price.

Ok here's what you should do IMHO: take all the best components into one PC - I'm guessing the p4 is worth more than the Celeron D? Then just sell all the bits and bobs by themselves

I have both HDDs ;) To sell, I was going to put the smaller one in and keep the larger one ... but it makes little difference to me.

Yea ... I'll disassmeble this weekend and see what I can get :P

Yeah keep the larger one def - 320gb is great. Don't you want to rather get yourself a newer PC though? You know they have this thing now where they actually integrate two cores into one central processing unit. ;)
