TRYING to get rich has cost him R40 000, 20 chickens and three goats in the last eight months.

Austin Mukonoweshuro (26) from Parkview in Joburg told Daily Sun that a sangoma promised to make him rich.

But then the healer milked every cent he could get out of him, leaving him with useless muthi, debts and a fight with his wife.

“He told me to buy three steel boxes. One box would become filled with money, the other would be full of tokoloshes and the third would protect the money from thugs,” Austin said.

“He took the third box into his bedroom,” said Austin. “Every time I went to his house to get the money he had a different excuse.

“He once said the money’s ready but the tokoloshes were at the cemetery and he couldn’t hand over the money box without them.”

Austin said the sangoma asked him to buy three white chickens and a black goat. He told him the blood of the animals would bring wealth.

“I have never turned him down. I borrowed money from mashonisa to buy food,” said Austin, who works as a gardener.

The SunTeam contacted the sangoma but he said he didn’t know anyone called Austin.

Sangoma Ntsimb’edlezinye Ngema told the People’s Paper that the inyanga gave Austin something that turned him into a tokoloshe that will work for the inyanga forever.

...and on the flip side, most of the 'victims' of Nigerian scammers are supposedly intelligent westerners- Aussies etc--and they vote too.

The notion that intelligence and common sense are the norm is totally false.

Most people also believe any internet myth that comes through their inbox...you see it passed on all the time...nothing to do with money, but the fact is people believe quite easily.
 
I want the steel box of Tokoloshe's....I would have so much fun with those creatures :D
 
It is believed that tokoloshes can be used to do your bidding, a bit like a genie. I guess that's why Austin was looking forward to receiving a box full of them.
