Things that please you...

I thought the beast from the east had already landed
I thought that was last year: we fled to southern Spain!

Right now the clearer sky is to my East: to the West just now is murkier. But it changes by the hour. The temp has dropped a little, but last night was very clear looking out to sea, so I expected temps to go down. Cloud prevents a lot of potential heat loss.

I have just looked at the weather forecasts for the area. A slight breeze from the North implies an anticyclone to the West: it will be bringing cooler weather from the North, and might drop to 0 C tomorrow morning, which I would describe as seasonally normal. We are expecting sunshine tomorrow from about 1000 hours GMT for much of the day, with temps rising to 5 C . It is possible that you may have seen a reference to London weather, as the UK reports focus on that area, but it seems to be expected to be a little warmer down there, so I am puzzled.

The 10/12 C temps we have had since we returned are warmer than usual for the season, and my SA wife finds it quite pleasant, probably due to the light wind and low wind chill factor.

I prefer your 25 or so C, but can live with this without any problems.

This is the thing I don't like about trail riding. You are riding the same trail is hundreds< of people before you.
I would like multiple options of routes to follow.

Flat pedals on MTB is the future, I keep my cleats on the road. Thankfully more people are going back to basics (flats). I did have bar ends until some time last year, worked well on extremely long ride but I don't miss them.

On those trails today I saw one other rider about 1km away. Have a a look, there is so many options, and this is just one trail network, we have at least 4 around Stellenbosch.
