Things that please you...

Wireless charging.

Yip, it has its drawbacks, but it's so convenient to plop my watch, phone, earbuds etc. down and know that they will have charged enough after a quick shave and shower to last me a good few hours without having to fumble with cables and ports.

Previous owner must have extended the service plan to 6 years.
Had 2 services already and still covered till Nov 2024.
No payments.

I love the satisfaction of sitting and aimlessly scrolling the internet

Fixing old computers. Picked up this for R690 and managed to get something going. Also seeing what team blue was doing since I went AMD in 2001.

When you said old, I was thinking more along the lines of Conroe - I remember when I was still a laaitie how I wanted to build me up a LGA775 system with one of those Core2Duo chips. Sadly I never got around to it, but I did end up buying a 2500k years later which I managed to get stable at just over 5.1GHz. That thing was a rocketship of note

Something else that pleases me is going for walks in the garden at night. There are always so many critters about and weird things to see.

I took a stroll last night with the dogs and managed to see some crane flies, lots of different types of slugs, a meneer of a spider in his web that caught a Christmas beetle, a frog, a shongololo, some geckos, bats and something resembling a tok-tokkie.

My son is getting to the age where him and his friends are saying yo mamma jokes.
Jokes are pretty lame though.

Just like yo mamma.

Managed to get a PC to boot which nobody else could.

Seems like I still have that skill.

My favorite is the I have tried since Tuesday to fix this issue, here let me show you.
In my presence it works without issues without touching it.

Left a company and came back when my restrain of trade(Integr8 kak) was up with the client.
Lady in creditors saw me when I was visiting 2 weeks before I started, McDonalds in hands:

Lady : Can you quickly check my printer issue, I don't have the printer in my remote session.
Me : Sure, give me an hour, be there shortly.
Lady : Please can you have a look now? The issue is 6 months old and not one IT person can fix it.
Me : Ok tell you what, log your session off, log back in again and if you still have it, you have a real issue.

15 minutes later...

Lady : How did you know that was the issue?
Me : Integr8 employs ****ing idiots. Hence why I left and the kak pay.

2 weeks later...

I log in on the terminal server, last restart was done 302 days back.
If you know your trade, then the solutions come easy.

Also reminds me of a POS that had some weird network issue. Like the thing would stop sending data on the NIC, but after a restart it would work for a few days it would stop sending data again.
Got escalated to me to check small things like drivers and Cisco switch config.
Went to the graveyard, got another NIC, went to the store replaced the card, issue never to return.

"Site Champion" smoking outside : No, go back to the store, install the old NIC and find the real problem.
Got the old NIC, went to the "Site Champion", broke the NIC in half, "I do believe the NIC is broken".

Ahhhh that pleases me thinking back.

Got 10 CPU's (ranging from 2x Xeons to Intel Core2Duo's) so far stashed away. Salvaged from kaputtes motherboards.

Need 2 more, then I can make a clock with the CPU's in the place of numbers
I have somewhat of a collection as well (ranging from Athlon CPUs to 2nd gen Core i's). If you want two, I'd be happy to part with them for your clock project :)

Fancy motion/light sensitive lantern outside our front door stopped working (Came with the house that was built in the 6 months up to august 2021) stopped working. (no, this didn't please me)

Opened it up to have a look inside, and emailed the manufacturer to find out if they could send me a new control module.
They replied and said no they don't sell them separately, and asked when it was installed. Told them the dates, they said "Oh, it's close enough to being in warranty, give us your address, we'll send you a new light"
