Hmm, now that I think of it. The last time I was at an airshow, I was in a plane crash. True story.Besides the rain and crowd not to bad.
But spent two hours trying to get outView attachment 1863617View attachment 1863618View attachment 1863619
My father bought a new Cirrus SR20 back in 2006. They ferried the plane all the way here. As they normally do.
I also did my PPL back then. I went solo somewhere between 10-15 hours iirc. And after that, I stopped. Never completed the PPL.
We were attending an airshow in Heidelberg. And we had a crash landing type of event coming back home. Had a prop strike, and we went off the runway. The left side wheel strut/landing gear collapsed after landing in the grass, after we had the prop strike. Real wtf moment.
The gear is designed in such a way as to absorb the impact. And obviously, to break if you slam it hard enough.
Iirc the damage was in the region of R400-500k. Maybe less. Can't remember.
Apart from the visible damage, they had to open the engine as well as required, and it is standard practice, afaik, if you had a prop strike.
