I am also a biker and although i get what the op says, the op must remember that we as bikers reap both the reward and take on the risk of using a bike. I could never use a car to commute, I would go out of my mind with frustration in traffic.

The other day a car didnt indicate and swiped me on the side as I was lane splitting past him on the highway. That was probably the 3rd close call that day and I had had enough of it. So i drove up to the car and looked at the driver who laughed at me. I proceeded to slap his mirror, which went flying. It wasnt my intention do break it, but I guess my anger was more than I could control.

So in summary to say all bikers think they own the road is pretty retarded. I have seen way more morons in cars doing whatever they want than bikers.

But then again, THESE IDIOTS ON THE N1 who ride in the emergency lane on the right hand side > I really do hope you all break your necks, and soon

I actually have a huge crack on my left mirror due to a biker that tried to squeeze between my car and another car at a traffic light when there was no space for him to get past in the first place. I understand that accidents happen but what annoys me is that he just rode away instead of taking responsibility.

I also dont get motorcyclists that have HUGE panniers on their bikes. Lane splitting doesn't work too well when your bike is as wide as a kia picanto, just saying...

I'm sorry this happened to you. It irritates me when people don't take responsibility for their actions. I hate it when bikers try to squeeze into spots they obviously won't make. When I see the gap isn't big enough, I simply wait for it to become big enough. There's this shmuck that works in my building who rides a scooter and I've ridden behind him a few times. He has no respect for the rules of the road or other road users. He overtakes on the left, next to the sidewalk and if there isn't enough space, he simply gets on the sidewalk and rides there. He cuts everyone off and rides (and parks) like an idiot.

Shame, poor car. It wasn't the car's fault and damaging the driver's property for nearly killing you doesn't seem like apt punishment. No, it was the driver that endangered your life and it's the driver that should take the punishment.

Heh, I had a scooter behind me on the rampage the other day, flashing and hooting to get past me so I politely moved over into the traffic and the chop flipped the bird at me and pulled a lame 2m wheelie. He landed it slightly scew and nearly went into a car... I fogged my visor up laughing. He clearly k@kked himself because he was the one moving out of my way a minute later as I merrily continued down the middle. There are some really bad attitudes out there with such arrogance but there are also some excellent attitudes... I'm sure one or two of my indecisive moments have also gotten me labelled as a tw@t as well... Either way, I do my thing trying to respect everyone else on the road at the same time.

I don't own a bike nor do I ride one, but I do think bikers have right of way as they are clearly more intelligent than the rest of us. They can accomplish a lot more using half the wheels we do.

Also keep in mind that "Think Bike" includes cyclists and I do cycle a lot, on and off road, so keeping an eye out for cyclists is important.

A few bad seeds ? not even close, I am actually surprised when a bike has a number plate on it, an no number plate is to me a dead give away that this biker does not care about rules of the road.

I try to be cautious and curtious to bikes but most bikers think they know the law where they dont.

Lane splitting is illegal whether they claim it to be legal or not.

What they are allowed to do is pass through the middle of still standing traffic like at traffic lights and lane share, meaning they drive next to another vehicle in the same lane at the same speed.
If they are lane sharing and they wish to overtake the same laws apply to them as a car driving in that lane.

I am specifically referring to lanes where the lane is wide enough to accommodate both of us. If the car were to keep to the left side of their lane and not hog the line, I would safely and easily (and completely legally) be able to pass the vehicle. If the lane isn't wide enough to accommodate both of us I will only go past on the white line if the traffic is standing still and it is safe to do so. I'm not going to blindly overtake. I try to stay out of the oncoming traffic lanes as much as possible.

At any given time I am wearing at least 3 layers of clothing (in Summer, that is, and up to 6 in Winter) and a helmet with a sealed faceplate. Standing still makes both me and the bike get very hot. We prefer to keep moving

Lane splitting is legal, but no car has to move over to the left in the lane they are in if you are overtaking them in the same lane. So I don't see why any biker can get angro when they think someone is not moving over. Much like it's illegal for any moving vehcile to use the yellow lane to let other traffic overtake, they don't have to do it.

I would love for a biker to give me anything in there that even slightly resembles the fact that you may drive inbetween two lanes.

Most people dont have a problem if you do that but then do it at your own risk at a safe speed for other motorists and dont damage someones property if you almost caused an accident by doing something illegal.
