Thinking about getting a bike.

Hardly Davidson is just like the vespa to the hipster :) awesome bike to put put into an accident, bad handling, braking, but it is pretty good for the over 60's crowd. Your next bike after a harley is a Zimmer frame

How do you think the 200 will compare? I'm also looking to enter the motorcycle market (been toying with the idea since forever though...), so something that, like you put it, isn't too intimidating for a beginner sounds very good to me.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see the 200 doesn't have ABS, so that goes out the window...

I was under the impression the 200 also had ABS as its the same frame and everything.

But from what I remember the 200 didn't make price sense.

Let me guess. . . .you've never ridden a harley.

Your assumptions about harleys are seriously dated. They are not the bikes they made 20 years ago. They have made a few improvements.

You got one of the newer V-Rod based liquid cooled bikes?

The air cooled ones are mostly the exact same thing, but there's nothing wrong with that either.

I don't mind a Harley but not as my only bike. It would need to be a Nightrod Special though. But if I got serious about that I would take a Yamaha V-Max and Ducati Diavel for a ride as well.

Sorry for spamming thread. Multiquote button is missing for some reason.

Just be fair and say you dislike cruisers, because the things you moan about are cruiser specific not Harley specific.

In the realm of cruisers HD makes great bikes. You can't compare braking off a sport bike to that of a cruiser.

Same way Vespa issues are scooter issues and not Vespa issues.

Actually I have, the best of the lot was the Buell. A few improvements in 20 years is the problem, the amount of r&d to other classes are immense in two years. Don't get me wrong, they're OK for what it is. But far from my cup of tea...

The Buell is very far removed from the other Harleys.

It's like an R&D prototype and there is nothing bad about a Buell.

But like you said, it's not your cup of tea and that's really where the problem lies not with the bikes.

Maybe that's why they were far superior before production stopped. Like I said, it's OK for what it is, but it is not great nor the penultimate in its class

I have a 1200 sportster. Amazingly easy to ride and the handling is for a cruiser, great. As for other nags I've heard from harley haters is that they are slow. . .This 1200 has plenty plenty power even for an experienced rider. In fact it's got ridiculous power.

Yeah but if you want customer service and aftersales NOBODY beats Harley.

Buell had almost nothing in common with Harley except for where the money came from. The only thing they shared was the block on the XB versions that originally came from a Sportster and the gearbox, both so drastically altered it was nothing like the original.

Not even the belt drive was the same...and how I miss that.

Harley on the other hand borrowed plenty of their modern tech from Buell and if you believe some channels the modern liquid cooler engine was thanks to Buell and Porsche.

Diesel truck torque makes them very rideable.

I wouldn't call it fast, but rather fit for purpose. You want acceleration which is exactly what all that torque offers in any gear.

Anything approaching 160 is too uncomfortable on the Sportster anyway, so more power would be silly.

Now the VRSC ones...those can be really quick.

Spot on

It is the RC version - That's what I wanted a price for.

What's the difference? Just the trim level? I don't seem to find the RC version on the website.

Edit: Nevermind, googled it. I much prefer the naked look. I like the "snubby" stature.
