thinking of getting this desktop

This looks like a fairly standard workhorse computer for office and internet tasks - should do the job.

You did notice that it has Linux and not Windows?
 
i would change the operating system to windows anyway. Will it handle games well if i get a good graphics card in it?
 
The psu is guaranteed to be crap. No wonder they don't mention any detail on it.

So for gaming (if you add a beefy graphics card) you would need to replace the PSU otherwise plan on replacing parts if it blows.
 
So is this a micro tower or normal size judging by the measurements they give in detail? wondering if i can fit a graphics card in there?
 
If you've got the time and knowledge rather buy some parts and build up a decent rig yourself. You did notice the desktop in the advert is running Linux, right?
 
You should be wanting a Skylake system with DDR4 RAM if you want a future proof your system.

PS: You don't need a R1k PSU for a beefy GPU these days.
 
ya i'm on a budget for a cheapish desktop that has good warranty and still plays games well.

yup, you can get something much better if you build it yourself.
 
ya but i don't have the knowledge to build one up and also i get the 2 year warranty for the complete setup.

The chances of something going wrong on a decent pc these days are slim, the most difficult part about building a pc is making sure all the parts are compatible, the actual assembly is like Lego. Besides, the individual components also have warranty's. And lastly, you won't do any sort of gaming on integrated graphics, you need a decent graphics card

but but.. it's so much more fun building your own :p Now days it's really easy, trust me. I'm sure some myBB members will even volunteer to do it for you if you are in their neighborhood.
 
will a budget of R5,000 be sufficient to get a decent gaming pc if i build it up myself?
 
i'm wanting to check out games like Soma and Outlast but doesn't have to be great resolutions.

No. No. Yes :D

For R5k you can get yourself an i5 system with 8GB ram and a 1TB hard drive. Thing is if you want to game (unless it's solitaire, flash games & some mild stuff) you are going to need a dedicated GPU and that varies greatly in price depending on your gaming requirements.
 
Nope not really that great.

I can build the same spec pc with a better chassis ,but with an i7 4790 for around R5200.
 
For R5000 I'm sure someone can build you a nice rig based around a Pentium G3258 and a nice secondhand, with warranty, R9 270, 270X, GTX 660, 670 or 750TI.

True, if you have access to places like Esquire and the likes where you can get parts at a decent price.

OP, you machine is too small. It will not work well for the intended purposes.
