This is Africa....

LancelotSA, it's one thing being positive in the face of strife; it's something completely different being a defeatist, spineless floor mat... There's a balance there somewhere - just merrily accepting whatever scraps you happen to come across isn't it.

The majority of the people in this country do not even know what an email is! WHY? Because the PRICING is out of their reach and the IT Moguls prevent fast growth in order to maintain their greedy pockets!

If you do not have the need for high speed that's your problem, but your vision holds the country to ransom! No...YOU get over it!

I have not heard one call on this forum for cheap entry level broadband so stop trying to be a martyr now. All the calls are for uncapped and faster speeds. You have pointed out the exact reason this is not feasible! We need to get the internet to more people, not faster speeds to the elite few!

Did you even read my comment? I am able to get a 4Mbp line if I so desire. I choose not to. 384k meets my requirements. And I am sure I am not alone. You guys don't seem to get this. Not sure how this makes me "defeatist and spineless".

Oh, I've read many of your comments all over this here forum. I'd rather not comment further on your 'be thankful for what you've got' attitude... In any event, if improved connectivity isn't of interest to you, stay out of this section of the forum. ;)

Sigh. More people rambling... no action.
If you want to complain about our broad band... why not do something about it?

You don't see enthic jungle tribes in the Congo complain about broadband delivery... maybe we should thrive to be tough like them

Actually quite interesting that you mention that as when I initially started typing my response I was going to question how, and why, some people always seem to carry baggage over from other threads when responding to a person's post. I got the feeling with your response that you took issue with my overall views and not this one in particular. And you have just confirmed this "fear". You will do well in future to concentrate on the specific comments the person makes and not bring your view of the individual into the argument. I make a habit of not even taking note of the person's name. You could do well to do the same so your posts don't appear so biased.

My apologies. I failed to realise that "Broadband Discussions" = "improved connectivity" discussions only

Phuleeeze man, so I'm supposed to read each & every post on a forum without taking into account the personality behind the screen name? Sorry, not possible - especially not when someone's response to a matter is clearly hugely influenced by his greater personal makeup.

This further confirms that your responses are tainted with your views of the individual rather than the words that are being said. I prefer to respond to the words rather than my perceptions. Each to their own but I will bear this in mind when reading your posts in future.

As will I... ;)

EDIT

Without getting unduly personal, it's not possible for me to do otherwise. I don't turn any disagreement into a strawman argument, but you have to take the person behind the words into account, so to speak...

i tried to follow the link LancedlotSA has on the bottom of his signature.....
guess what... i cant see it, i am capped to local only...... so i cant see the SA Good news... guess there is no good news when your international is gone !!! :(

Guess what... the good news is that you can buy 1Gb of non-expiring international data from Axxess for only R69 (using your local to do so ;!). Or you could just use that R69 to go and buy a few drinks at the bar! Isn't South Africa just full of opportunities and choices? ;)

the beer sounds excelent ! :)

3 more days untill i get a shiny new one gig international limit !!!! yay !!!
