...and bandwith is something we struggle with.
Get over it.

+1

South Africa isn’t a place for sissies, if you want to make a living here, learning to live with all of this will work to your advantage, it will build character and keep you from turning into a miserable being.

Please don’t understand me wrong, I am in no way accepting the poor service and incompetence of our ISPs, or any other company for that matter, I’m just saying that there is a limit, sometimes it’s good to just calm down and relax a bit. ;)

Damn, things are changing around here. Before long my sig may not be required any more as we will only be getting good, positive, happy news! ;)

And I really needn't state that I agree totally. Some may argue that we don't get uncapped or 8Tb/s speeds (yes, sarcasm before someone points out you can't get those speeds!) but then those same people will be all to quick to point out that we apparently live in a "third world hell hole". Should we not then be pretty chuffed that we even have ADSL at all?!?

Finally...

You guys have no idea how good you have it to actually have adsl. I can connect solely with gprs and look forward to the day that i have your problems. Still, my life goes on no problem even with the lack of always-on internet and im making the most of it(whenever i'm not lazy that is)

No, WE DEMAND CHANGE!

Why can America, England and Asia have such cool fast broadband and we are stuck with caps and crap speeds. It's no use being apathetic about it.

Those countries have the money to deal with other problems which are greater than mere broadband squabbles. And as the OP said, this is Africa...

+1 .We (Our government) prefer to spend our tax $$$ on 6 million rand websites and stuff. Only in Africa... :o

OMG!!

Third World...pfft
Accept your lot...pfft
I am too scared to make a change...pfft
I am happy with my 2kb/s "BROADBAND" conection..why should I need 4880kb/s?...pffft

Bull@@@@ It is this very attitude that allows us to be screwed! WAKE UP!

Hey, you have your needs, others have there needs.

I live in a country where I am capable of getting a 4Mbps connection if I so desire and I am still happily sitting with a 384k connection. This is what you guys fail to realise. The majority of people in this country just do not have the same needs as you! Get over it! ;)

The majority of the people in this country do not even know what an email is! WHY? Because the PRICING is out of their reach and the IT Moguls prevent fast growth in order to maintain their greedy pockets!

If you do not have the need for high speed that's your problem, but your vision holds the country to ransom! No...YOU get over it!

LancelotSA, it's one thing being positive in the face of strife; it's something completely different being a defeatist, spineless floor mat... There's a balance there somewhere - just merrily accepting whatever scraps you happen to come across isn't it.
