Good Morning everyone

So as usual I opened News24 this morning to see what fine news there are today, only to be greeted by a small box of news surrounded by easter eggs as far as they eye can see. I get that companies need to make money, but personally I feel they have gone a little overboard today, there is even a dion wired add squished in there.

(Yes I know I can use add block, but the bulk of the users don't know this or aren't using it, so this is what they have to deal with)

EDIT: Here is the link if the image doesn't display correctly https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwJ0apNsOJhZT0JiRDFVaE1ZNTg/view?usp=sharing

Your link returns a 403 error. With Netwerk24 now going paid, I would have thought News24 could ease up on the advertising. Whatever you do, don't try to visit IOL without AdBlock on.

Gathering news and running one of the most visited sites in the country is expensive and web ad revenues globally are cratering, the content on News24 is free, it's got to be paid for somehow.

I think complaining about excessive ads on a paid platform is totally understandable but unless the ads are misleading or passing themselves off as content, I don't have a problem with them. I mean can probably count the times they've actually led to me even just clicking on them on one hand but hey.

I totally agree with this, and like I mentioned, I realise that they have to make money, it's just the nature of today's ad was a bit too much. Currently mybroadband's background is an add in mostly grey and some blue, which is totally fine, News24 just didn't make a good decision with their add today in my opinion

Yeah. Marketers seem to not understand that the more adverts that are crammed on a page, the less value they have.

A single text banner ad is far more effective an advertising tool than being one of 20 flashing/video adverts on a page.

And while I am ranting I would just like to thank marketing slime for taking the internet - which was good - and almost single handedly destroying it.
