ok, so i though the Nvidia gts 250 was a price cut 9800gtx+, but now that it's starting to make an appearance on our online stores, something looks very very wrong! take a look here and here. That's R2500 for a card that's meant to be "cheaper"

Take a look at the 9800gtx+ here and here(this is an overclocked version!!!)

that means that you paying $247.28 for a card that should cost $129! wtf is going on here???? why are we paying nearly double the amount then the US???

SPAAAAAAAAAAAARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exlpoifrickentation of the gamer nation :p

It's because distributors are taking advantage thinking it's a new series card.

The first link I followed was to Mark at Landmark..As with all these guys they are dependent on what the importers/distributors sell them for. Yea,some re distributors really rip the mark up thing but most guys are very reasonable in their markups.

Ive looked at Corex and the like ..these guys have some serious overheads to contend with here. Yes, all of their own making though.

The greed and bad business practises of most SA companies..

Expect it rather and then be bloody amazed when a good deal presents itself!
Saves yourself the frustration..

well surely that is the wrong attitude to have? As consumers surely we can say : F*** you! I'll import...

I mean if enough of us demand, rant, and just stop buying from SA shops and import(which would probably be cheaper) then they will have to change their ways... I'm sick of this, why must we pay almost 200-blerrie% MORE then the US. god knows what our prices are compared to China and Taiwan...

May not be cheaper to import hey:

129 dolla x 10% x 14% = 161 dolla add another 50 dolla for postage your looking at about 2.2k to import. Plus you have the added problem of warranty and what not.

where's the other 10% coming from??? but still, surely the importers aren't paying $170+ for the cards, and the transport can't be more then $20 per card... some one is making an awful lot of money here...

You can import. Some people do it and works out a lot cheaper, especially for the high end products. Problem with hardware is if it breaks you have to send it back to the states for warranty issues.

For games and software its easier.
