Q: I'm using my cell as a modem on my pc, what do i use for my outgoing e-mail server? Can i use smtp.vodacom.co.za, which is what is set on the cell itself, for when I use my handset to send mail.

can i use the same setting when using dialup?

Was hoping ic would answer this one...:)

Do you mean the same smtp server setting when you use a non-Vodacom connection? If so, the answer would be no. You need to use the mail relay of the service provider you're connecting to.

Dunno if this is the right thread to ask in but here goes, does vodacom provide a pop service for its vodacom email subscribers, as in can i set up outlook or outlook express to collect mail and then is there no smtp authentification if i connect to a dsl line or dailup to send d/l mail instead of having to change to the smtp to smtp.saix.net and then change back to voda again?

smtp.saix.net is the ADSL mail relay and smtp.vodacom.co.za Vodacom's on the GPRS/3G data network. These are for outgoing mail only and does not support POP as they are not mail servers or host mail accounts.

These relays are only visible from their respective native access networks, so I don't think this will work.
