Yea mail is a bitch I don't even bother with anymore, mailgun is easy for sending and Google business for hosted mailboxes

Why on earth would anyone host their own mails...
What am I missing.
For an office say 10 — 25 people what is the pros and cons of hosting your mail inhouse vs the alternatives.
What is the alternatives?

Well you could host 50 mailboxes on a $5 server yourself where google business charges $5 per email address(plus benefits).

The more you add the less secure you become.

a) Privacy
b) Being able to troubleshoot mail issues myself
c) Being able to administer and add users / rules myself.
d) Control valuable IP that can't be hosted externally
e) Being able to make sure my IP is clean and I'm not on any spam lists.
f) Being able to host backup MX so that mail will never truly go down
Pick one or two or three or four...
I've never been a fan of that.
If I was to do it, I would run the office mail from cpanel?
The office will have a website businessname.co.za
And simply run the 20 users as 20 cpanel inboxes?
If special services like clients notifications from a server or something like that needs to send mails I will simply use the SMTP server from cpanel. It's IMAP too.
What am I missing?
Google benefits, irrelevant, if you need email you get email.

He doesn't seem to understand that . The concept of separating his live and secure server from his experimental stuff also seems a bit foreign to him
Where on fcks earth did you draw that conclusion from?
This is a test/sanbox/play VPS
My live server is a truserv box running WHM and cpanel.
