So you meet a girl, she's single, you're single - you chat for a while at a party, but when you leave you seem to have missed her, and as such are unable to get her number.

Now being that you've spoken for a while you know her name and can locate her on Facebook.

Is it acceptable to message her saying that you enjoyed meeting and would like to swap numbers or take her for a drink?

Where are the boundary lines? Is it creepy / stalking or is it acceptable?

Nothing wrong with that. Send her a message on Facebook saying you enjoyed chatting at XXX party, and would she like to go out for drinks some time.

Also post pics of her here.

If you know one of her friends rather ask them for her number.

Ask her on fb. Nothing wrong with it. Better than asking a friend for her number imo - that is kind of creepy...

It's acceptable yes. of course.
It only becomes stalking / creepy if you continue sending her multiple messages after she's either asked you not to, told you she's not interested or ignores your messages...

In my opinion that would be worse.

Getting a Facebook message is way less intrusive than magically finding my number by whatever means.

Just keep it to one message. If she doesn't reply then leave it well enough alone. It's when you keep sending messages that it becomes a problem.

At least when asking a friend there will be a witness for the upcoming murder trial.

I do this all the time, what can be easier :)
If she is not interested she wont answer, end of story.

Got to agree. If any of my friends gave out my mobile number I would ****ing kill them. Facebook has a search facility for the public - so use it!

rather stalk her, find out when she attends another party and accidentally "bump into her" again. make it seem like destiny/true love.

Go for it. Nothing wrong with your approach. She might appreciate you contacting her and if not, then you know why she did not give you her number at the party :D

A few years ago a friend of mine gave my numbers to a special kind of crazy. I'm not talking hot-crazy, I'm talking uggo-bat**** crazy. She spend the next 2 YEARS calling me at every opportunity at home and on my cell.

No thanks Jeff, Facebook it is.
