I do this all the time, what can be easier :)
If she is not interested she wont answer, end of story.

Are you single at the moment?

A few years ago a friend of mine gave my numbers to a special kind of crazy. I'm not talking hot-crazy, I'm talking uggo-bat**** crazy. She spend the next 2 YEARS calling me at every opportunity at home and on my cell.

No thanks Jeff, Facebook it is.

Yes, while you are at it, throw in a poke.

i am inclined to agree with the majority of the forum members on here. it would be totally acceptable. any maybe next time you dont leave the party without getting her number.

So you meet a girl, she's single, you're single - you chat for a while at a party, but when you leave you seem to have missed her, and as such are unable to get her number.

Now being that you've spoken for a while you know her name and can locate her on Facebook.

Is it acceptable to message her saying that you enjoyed meeting and would like to swap numbers or take her for a drink?

Where are the boundary lines? Is it creepy / stalking or is it acceptable?

Perfectly acceptable. Go for it.

Nothing wrong with that. Send her a message on Facebook saying you enjoyed chatting at XXX party, and would she like to go out for drinks some time.

Also post pics of her here.

Then he anticipates her response, and checks her up a thousand times a day. Nope avoid fb, it's an instant way to be labelled a stalker, in the eyes of a female, and an instant way to drive yourself mad. Get her number rather, call her, grow a pair.

A little agro there aren't you..
A call is a little intrusive and I agree a lot of women(friends have told me) and myself prefer not to have out number randomly given out.
Building rapport over text/fb works wonders.
Get her number from her and call to set up a meet.

For whatever reason messages from strangers go into this "other" section and I don't get notified - maybe calling is a better bet.

This is what I'm worried about as well.

On a related note, I sent a girl a Facebook message 3 days ago and she hasn't responded yet.

I was thinking of sending her a Facebook friend invite today as a follow up (incase she didn't see the message), is this is good/bad idea?

You should have started by sending the Facebook invite which is what OP should do.

I went for the message and gave my cellphone number.

The reason is that I would prefer to chat and be able to describe myself and have it more social, compared to her receiving an invite and then accepting and then being able to view my whole history of pictures etc.

Surely it would be more engaging if we chatted over a messaging platform and I was able to tell her more about me, describe what I like etc - instead of her reading it all without interaction?

I find that if you've met someone in real life, had a bit of a chat and gotten on well they will almost always accept your invite unless they are completely disinterested.
