The Whitehaven platform will include support for quad-channel DDR4 memory support, more PCIe lanes and more storage compared to AMD’s X370 on AM4. It will compete directly with Intel’s upcoming HEDT X299 platform and Skylake X CPUs which will feature up to 12 cores.

The new high-end desktop platform will compete directly with Intel’s upcoming HEDT X299 platform and Skylake X CPUs which will feature up to 12 cores. Threadripper processors offer more I/O, storage, cores, threads and L3 Cache compared to Ryzen & Intel’s upcoming X299.

Damm ... might have to consider AMD again ...
Wonder how (if) Intel will respond to this?

And still no articles on the Intel i9 series which will finally show us who makes the best chips?

Problem is they will most likely have to lower the clockspeeds a little. But, if you need 32 threads, this is great.

So is this gonna help me keep my aim up in CS:GO and get those damn headshots? No? Not interested then :P

I guess servers is the target market?

No, that's Naples...socket might be the same going by pin count.

Whitehaven is for the enthusiasts / prosumers who would have considered Broadwell-E in the past and X299 in the future.

Does this do anything for crypto people? That's mostly GPU intensive right?
