Threats to National Security

I believe that if this whole classification/press freedom thing were to go ahead, that would be it; the flood gates would be opened (or rather closed). Anything and everything would be made suitable to classify to fit an agenda and yes, we would see the odd story about corruption being uncovered along with the usual headlines but this would simply indicate that some sod has fallen out of favour with the in-crowd at the trough. Classify in this case = hide for personal gain or hide to cover my butt. End of.

But .... did you not know that our Constitution was drafted with due regard to our past ? Therefore, certain forms of discrimination is allowed e.g. AA in the workplace, as well as BBBEE.

Furthermore, every human right can only be exercised in such a manner that it does not infringe on the rights of others. That is what is called a legitimate curtailment of rights.

Ah yes two wrongs make a right

Agreed, but I don't think, at least I hope it doesn't extend to protect family members from possibly negative media attention.

Yeah, but somehow I think they will. This is the ANC we are talking about. You know, the President with criminal tendencies, tenderprenureship, corruption infested ANC.

My point exactly - the ANC cannot even be trusted with running the country properly, how can they be trusted with this law?

What point? This is your first post on the thread.

How many times have the chicken littles worried about decisions made that have had absolutely no impact what so ever. The World Cup served a big warm cup of CTFD to all of them.

LOL, I was one of the guys who was saying the SWC would be a success. Still doesn't change the fact that the ANC are corrupt, inept, and downright useless.

On a whole, yes. They still manage to do a better job at marketing themselves than everyone else.

Not really. The ANC are voted into government because they are seen as the only viable party by the masses, not because of anything on their manifesto. The honest truth is that all the other parties in the country are mistrusted because of our past. If that can be overcome, the ANC would be shyting themselves at election time.

So free shirts and clever songs don't help?

LOL. Ok, but only because the voters roll is made up of people with an appeal for free t-shirts and old war songs but don't know enough about the important stuff.

No, the human rights you mention do infringe on other rights..

And it doesn't matter that the constitution was made due to our past. The constitution affects me in the present. I was 4 years old when Mandela was released. The fact that I must essentially be "punished" for the mistakes and wrong doings done by others, and you seem to think this is justice is absurd.

Better job at marketing themselves = intimidation and bribery of the electorate, incitement to violence preventing opposition parties from campaigning, sabotaging electorate education efforts (so they can see the scumbaggery), patronage, enlisting the assistance of voting blocks (Kings, ‘elders’ unions, etc), steamrollering any objections by superior numbers, etc.

That kind of ‘better job’?

The new Information (Censorship) Bill would certainly classify today's article in the Sowetan about the 20 miners executed.

Also classified would be:
Acid mine water threat to Johannesburg
Dead babies in hospitals
Babies disposed of as waste by hospitals
Any criminal activities by ANC comrades

What else can be added to this list?

Only Threat to National Security is the ANC themselves ;) :(
