I need a three channel ET receiver, just dont know where I can buy one in cape town.

So I bought the new receiver and plugged it into the alarm, programmed the remote and all is fine.

The tech had claimed that the third channel is faulty and needs replacing.
But while was taking out the old receiver, I found that the tech had left one wire out and that was the one we were supposed to use for the third channel.
I want to test this old receiver but I cannot figure out how. Below is the picture of the old receiver and new one. is there any tests I can do, for example with a multimeter ?

I have connected a 12v Power supply to the receiver and configured all three channels on a spare remote I have. I want to know how to test if the output is working.

you could probably just put a multi-meter on continuity and hold it between 0v and CH2, activating remote should make it beep on the multi-meter, likewise for CH3

CH1 would be between COM and N/O

That definitely worked. So I have a working new and old three-channel receiver.. I really need a better alarm tech, he was here the day before yesterday from 8 in the morning till 6 in the evening, connecting a new back-to-base radio transmitter which is still not connecting to the app on my phone.
He was supposed to configure the remotes but was not able to configure the stay mode on the remote because he thought it was a faulty receiver.
When I asked for the cost of replacement I was quoted R700.

Yeah you need a new guy xD I'm not even an alarm tech, though I do have self taught experience and I could probably figure that out in a few minutes.

I haven't bought hardware in quite a while but I would hazard a guess the receiver retails around R350, obviously it needs connecting and driving around to collect, R350 seems steep if he is already there charging for other things as his labour cost, plus he would have a trade account at regal.

you are right the receiver cost me R388, which was the retail cost as I didn't have an account.
Worst part is it was not even faulty, just wrong wiring that was an issue in the first place.
And they want to maintain the monopoly by not sharing installer codes, and charging R300 for even something simple as configuring the zones. I asked him a couple of things to do which I found is possible on my paradox alarm, the tech had no clue.
I am honestly considering resetting the whole system and configuring it from scratch. The only issue is the monitoring system and they have a specific way of configuring it which I am sure they won't share.
Or I am thinking of configuring the alarm my way and then calling them to setup the monitoring that way I will have complete control of the alarm.

Unless they own the alarm system they should share the code with you. On paradox the default installer code is either 9999 or 999999 if I recall, I would test if they actually changed it by trying to enter programming mode.

is there a installer's manual perhaps that you can share? Cant seem to find it online.

Here it is. I will get the picture of the board tomorrow morning

Consider an alternate company?
