Three dead in Egypt as planned bomb attack fails

Three people were killed when two bombs they were carrying in a pick-up truck went off prematurely south of Cairo, Egyptian government and security forces announced on Wednesday.

The three, who were allegedly planning an attack, were killed outright when the truck was completely blown apart in the village of Shurafa.

Ali Abderrahmane, governor of Giza province, spoke of "a powerful explosion" which destroyed the truck and said the dead "were preparing an attack on a security services control point".

Since the fall of President Mohamed Morsi in July last year and a subsequent army crackdown, Egypt has seen a series of bombings targeting security forces and claimed by jihadists, particularly in the Sinai peninsula.

The attacks have also cost many civilian lives along with more than 500 police and soldiers, according to government figures.

EGYPTIAN MEDIA: 3 MILITANTS DIE IN CAR EXPLOSION

Egypt's official news agency says three suspected militants have died when their car blew up south of Cairo.

MENA says the explosion took place early on Wednesday in the town of el-Saf in Giza province.

The report quotes unnamed security officials as saying the three suspects were carrying an explosive device in their car and likely detonated it by mistake. MENA gave no further details.

Egypt has battled an Islamic insurgency for the past three years that dramatically escalated after the military's ouster last July of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi and its subsequent crackdown on his Muslim Brotherhood supporters.

An al-Qaida-inspired group called Ansar Beit al-Maqdis has claimed responsibility for a series of explosions and suicide attacks over the past year.

i cant help smiling when i think of the video recently of the other islamist imbeciles who were sitting around singing & allahu akbar-ing when their suicide vest exploded in the room :D :D

Unfortunately, they didn't experience prolonged pain just before their pathetic lives were ended in a hilarious way :(
