Throttle on Mweb packages.

Hi Mweb Guy...
just spoke to your department now and he says that if I migrate my line to the new package I will be throttled from the start? How does that work???
Selling a 2MB line and then throttling immediately?

please clarify,....

Uncapped ADSL throttling not cool, says MWEB

“MWEB has been vocal about throttling and about consumers having the right to have both an affordable Internet connection with the best possible experience where they can enjoy uncapped Internet without being slowed down because of data usage,” said Hoosain.

“MWEB doesn’t throttle but rather shapes its network which means that the ISP manages the network and allows certain traffic like browsing the Internet, online gaming, YouTube, e-mail and VoIP to take preference.”

I think your staff needs training....or you need to communicate better :)

Derek Hershaw, CEO of MWEB ISP, said they will maintain a fair service for all their subscribers, by implementing throttling on high usage users where applicable (throttled speeds: 2Mbps down to 192Kbps; 4Mbps down to 256Kbps).

“We will monitor usage across these products and reserve the right to throttle the connection speeds of the top percentage of subscribers on these products that generate usage above the average,” said Hershaw.

Hi drukkie

I'm not sure if you would be throttled straight away, I'd need to check up on that.
Please could you DM me the name of the consultant you spoke to and which number you called to as well as which number you called from?

I'd like to look into this for you. :)
 
MWeb followed up on a trial account and I'm sure they mentioned that throttling will only affect heavier users - whatever "heavier" entails I don't know.
 
Since no one at Mweb could actually tell me what's being throttled on these new packages I decided to give it a shot.

On 4MB uncapped I can't stream a youtube video seamlessly on 360p. Seriously? Just call it a 512K package, and it will be much clearer to all involved. I'm switching back to the premium uncapped today after trailing the throttled package for all of 1 day. Big thumbs down from me!
 
Thanks, I PM'ed my info to you....got migrated down to the throttle service today...
so will see how it goes...

I also gave notice to cancell my account....so you guys have untill end of march to impress me...

or I'm going to give telkom a try :) :)
