Johannesburg - South African Airways has appointed human-resources manager Thuli Mpshe as acting chief executive officer and has started a process to recruit a permanent appointment to the post.

Mpshe replaces Nico Bezuidenhout, who returned to his role as CEO of state-owned SAA’s low-cost unit Mango last week, spokesman Tlali Tlali said by email on Monday.

The SAA board has approved the terms of reference for the recruitment of a new CEO and will present a recommended candidate to Finance Minister Nlhanhla Nene when one is found, he said.......

Management instability continues unabated at South African Airways (SAA) where the human resources GM Thuli Mpshe has now been appointed to run the airline on a temporary basis and a dispute rages over the validity of the renewed contract of CFO Wolf Meyer‚ Business Day reported. There are two other executive vacancies at group level: head of strategy and CEO of catering division Airchefs‚ which has an acting leader. In addition the airline has a skeleton board of only four nonexecutive directors.

Ag, it's the old ANC game of: "qualifications and experience don't matter as long as they are a PDI". And the more they fail the more they'll try and prove they are right.

Thought Nico was actually doing a decent job.

Nico is to blame for not having qualifications, he is clearly competent but he needs to complete that B.Comm.
