-- just using two different connections but on the same account.. one for local one for international?

Just gotta make sure I dont kick that router :)

Wow. Are joo seriaaas?

I take it that you never disconnected the local-only connection, so it's still running on the old "local-only" ip address?

I iz correct?

yes, correct.

When it was capped I put it on the router.. which gonna get a UPS sorted for it soon so that should help if I can get it plugged into that..

anyways yah. Router is connected to the TI account in its "capped" state.

Then I just connect using route sentry in Windows with TI as my international account and Ethernet as my local connection.

LEGEND!!!!
I lives and Learnz!

I haz me linux box handling the connection, but I went and restarted it on the 1'st like a moron.

Gee, suddenly is seems so easy for telkom to provide us with direct access to the local-only portion of our accounts. Like that other ISP who added a letter on the end of the login to differentiate between routings.

But ... eish .. to get them to do that is ... eish!

When doing this you will be using the old months local bandwidth.... I did this once and got charged.

Thanks. Well thats still fine cause I only went 500MB into last months bandwidth? So if I do what im doing and just keep back dating im safe then :) right?

can anyone confirm though it will come off last months...
TI stats is reading from this month.

I cant see them having any leg to stand on though cause as a customer of theirs they didnt reset my account. They never told me I have to reset my line for a new cap to take affect.

If they had to charge a customer for using 40GB of local over 2 months on a 2GB account in one long session then they cant hold the customer liable for 20GB of that because he/she didnt disconnect thats silly.

What if a person buys a TI 2GB account just for local only access and has it on a router always on and doesnt ever notice that its being capped or uncapped internationally.. just keeps using it locally... It never gets reset and people pay for that?

I dont dispute what you saying may be true assasin but I find it highly flawed and something that can definitely be corrected by pulling logs and going to a Telkom shop.

Also in the past if ur session ran into the new month it came off your new months cap... they absolutely have no legitimate reason for doing what you just said they could be doing based on the way their system has been working for a very long time already.

They definately cutting back...I used to get 4 gig off these things :/

MrG - Are you still connected to last month's local bandwidth?

I've been doing that sins I joined TI in October last year. At midnight the old months stats stop accumulating and the new month's start, no problem. The only thing is the connection on the router don't last very long. Sometimes a few hours and if I'm lucky, like this month it lasted me 3 days. The problem is when that connection is lost, the router automatically connect to international and my international portion gets gobbled up. I wrote a script to shutdown my PC as soon as it detects international connectivity.

I used 19GB of the 20GB and logged off. It lasted me until the 8th or so. Strange that your connection didn't keep.

I at first thought it's Telkom that force the disconnect cause they don't like what I'm doing, but I suppose it is probably caused by the distance I'm from the exchange, 5+km :(

Wrong. ICASA ruling is that your local session must be uncapped and that the connection is not allowed to be disconnected unless your usage limit has been reached. If your capped connection from the previous month carries through to the next month then your usage will still be accounted for the current month, however it will be accounted as local usage. The moment you disconnect and reconnect you will be blended again.

I'm so happy that I never have to worry about this EVER AGAIN!

:D :D :D

Neotel NeoConnect Prime Unlimited FTW!
You don't have 430kB/s or stable 8-10ms latency, though. I'd take that, with 4.5GB int/30GB local over neotel's offering, any day... lol
