Ticket Outrage :O

One would think someone who got his/her license only four months ago would still remember all these rules. Of course, maybe the OP also studied from a test supplied by a friend and never actually bothered with the required material.

lol oldfag, u actually know what is involved in order to get the bloody lisence?

probably u don't. But thanks for sharing that with me

Tweak, welcome to the real world.. its irrelevant what is involved in order to get the license.

You WILFULLY broke the law and were caught... Pay up.

oI went to a store(small town) two blocks away from my house, without a helmet. Since I forgot my backpack at work. I couldn't carry the groceries and my helmet and start the scooter all at the same time...

I don't understand this.

Why not put your helmet on your head (where it belongs) and then start the scooter?

Drive with a helmet next time, there's less chance of them pulling you over or stopping you then cause there's no real reason to. The cops can't smell that you don't have a license, but if you're not wearing a helmet, they will pull you over. It's kind of their job to do this.

Then when they pull you over, they are obviously going to check the other stuff.

Also think that there are never accidents cause the cops are doing a good job? That's what it sounds like to me :p

Not just that. You might as well have been carrying a massive sight saying: "Hey look at me, I'm breaking the law, I dare you to try and stop me". Just because you couldn't put a helmet on your head.

I knew someone would find this confusing. Actually its harder to park the vehicle because it doesn't have a kickstand.

I have to pull it backwards with both hands while holding down some pedal with my foot. The tricky part is to balance the bike while doing this. I don't want it to fall over.

You have to drive the thing to understand :P

I know the stand. The type that lifts the front wheel.

The part I don't understand is, why couldn't you do this with a helmet on your head?

I read these replies and I can't help but feel for you're ignorance.

Something I should probably add is, I was on my way to a store for some biltong to pay the guy who fixed my scooter the previous week.

Have 10minutes drive from work, 10minutes drive back to work.
ate 20minutes and then only had another 20minutes to do my shopping and get back to work.

That is why I didn't walk, I always walk to store or ride bicycle.
But on this day the bicycle was not an option since I was in a hurry.

I saw lots of kids in high school who drive to school in scooters, even though they are only grade 8 or 9.
Not to mention the legion of Quad bike riders around town. Some of whom are quite rich (small town politics) and they get away with driving without a helmet but not me.

The lack of sympathy you have received is directly proportional to the traffic offences that you have admitted to having committed and for which you do not want to accept responsibility.

 • R500 ticket for not having a lisence with me (even though its only a 80cc electric scooter)
 • R250 for not having a helmet
 • R250 for an outdated vehicle lisence plate(but It was paid, the lady I bought the scooter from last month just forgot to put it on the scooter)

Please clarify by what you mean with "80cc electric scooter"? It doesn't matter what size or type of scooter you drive, you do need a license.

See my post above re helmet.

As for the outdated vehicle license plate - surely the onus is on the new owner of the vehicle to ensure that the license plate is valid at all times?

I can't believe Tweak is looking for sympathy when he was clearly in the wrong, you committed a crime, nou is dit tyd om te k@k en betaal.

Actually dude, I'm 23, and I've gone through the entire license shlep and I know how crap it can be, but this is the real world. Sometimes things aren't easy, but that doesn't mean you can just ignore it.
I recently had some dealings with SARS regarding a dormant CC I have, and yeah, I had to drive to their offices and sit in the queue four times, killing my entire lunch hour and sometimes more than that, to get things sorted, but it had to be done.

You drove without a license? That's against the law. If you want to complain about this, next time you get robbed or something, don't go bitching about the cops not doing their job.

1hour? sometimes more than that?

Get real man.. I applied for my lisence where hundreds of people were standing in qeue. You wait for a couple of hours to get an appointment and a couple of hours to pay for the appointment.

Usually takes you 2 working days to get the date.

6months later you arrive to take the test. You didn't bring enough bribe money so no, you didn't get youre drivers lisence.

I went through this process 3 times. Spent a lot more than R1000

Why are you stuck on the learners license I passed my learners license every time. But I don't know if you're aware but they expire. You probably just forgot about that part :)

Then you clearly can't drive properly and shouldn't be on the roads.

You only need bribe money if you can't pass the test on your own merits.

Accept it, you broke the law and you will get sweet FA sympathy from anyone here, go pay your fines and learn your lesson.

Well, pretty much everyone here has done what you did as it's not exactly a new thing.

You had to do it 3 times? That's pretty pathetic. What are you even doing on the road? Well, if you studied you would've gotten things done the first time like me and it would've cost you a fair amount less, or am I wrong?

I'm still sitting here wondering why he hasn't answered my question regarding the troubles with parking and starting the scooter while wearing a helmet?

Well he's had to do his LEARNERS 3 times (and still hasn't passed) so maybe basic things are a bit beyond him?

Kinda hilarious how some policeman actually enforces laws for once and then gets labeled crazy.

Fortunately for him being stupid isn't illegal, or he might have received another ticket to complain about.
