Tickets a disgrace - SA Rugby

Its a disgrace that the event at Ellis Park is 'Sold Out' and no tickets available at Computicket or Checkers, yet plenty (some people selling 50) on Gumtree for R1100 / R1200 which is double the face value of the tickets. Why dont SA Rugby do something about this so that regular fans of bok rugby can get to see the game without paying these outrageous prices?
 
It is happening all over.

I follow the official Welsh Rugby Union and All Black pages on Facebook and Welsh and New Zealand fans regularly throw a fit over ticket prices for test matches.
 
This thing can be curtailed if a majority of tickets are sold to an identity which needs to be present for the tickets to be redeemed at entry. I realise this can create logistical nightmares but it also kills the scalp market. I have previously had many useful thoughts around this problem but now couldn't be bothered - SARU needs to take action, not the fans.
 
An absolute disgrace. I might have a few extra tickets lying around. Could let them slip for a R1000...a piece

I'm not sure if you are joking or not. It sounds like you are the exact same kind of person as being complained about in this thread.
 
They can only ask what the market is willing to pay. People should stop buying from touts.
 
Aside from large crowds disturbing the event hoping to buy tickets from scalpers at the stadium, I don't see a problem. Willing seller, willing buyer, all that jazz.

The price inflation is the big issue.

Also people buying tickets on the day at the stadium can cause huge problems.

You don't see a problem with price gouging and counterfeit tickets?

How about genuine fans not being able to buy a ticket because scalpers bought them all?

Some resellers resell for example Esquire products. And they make a profit on it.
Why is that acceptable but rugby tickets not?
 
best way to kill the industry is not to buy tickets from the 'blackmarket'
 
Well, if you really wanted tickets, you could have bought season tickets and be guaranteed an international game. Downside is that you have to watch Lions games ;)

Because Esquire is not the retailer. A better comparison would be me buying all the petrol in Joburg today then selling it back to users at double the price.

If someone is willing to pay double the price then what's the problem?

Yes they would, if the scalper didnt buy it someone else would. Its a big game, everyone wants tickets.
How do you expect to get tickets "at the last minute?"

If nobody wanted the tickets, the scalper wouldnt put a "premium" on the price.
